  1. Glad Diamond Sports doesn't fully own or operate in NYC. Ouch. By breaking the contracts, I would assume there will be some legal action too. Does the entire group have much time left?
  2. I think folks forget CBS had tried to lure Williams to head up the evening news in the past, and, was rebuffed. Not sure anything has changed (other than more chaos at CBS with budget cuts, headcount reductions, and the pending purchase). Plus, does Williams even want to go back to the daily grind now that he hasn't been doing that for 2 years? I also would assume that he would want much more than his ending salary at MSNBC, and that could be an issue for CBS today, considering the current plan is a lower cost option.
  3. Remember, he was never an option for all the attempts CNN made for a morning show. NBC first step is what do they want at 7 and 10. Stability vs. shake up. That will drive decision making. Because of the whole Matt Lauer mess, stability was key and why they expanded Hoda's role. I doubt one person will be moved to both hours. NBC also has a strong bench, and that helps.
  4. Selling a property and leasing it back is a common practice in business. It offers tax benefits. It does not mean they are selling the actual broadcast station. Think of it as they will gain money from selling the building, have a tax benefit and then pay rent to a third party. Reading the statement that is what it sounds like.
  5. Didn't I read that CBS owned stations are moving to single anchors. That probably means DuBois won't be replaced at 5 and 6, and he may anchor alone at 11.
  6. I would expect he only keeps the 11 pm. Half an hour to prepare for CBSEN is too short.
  7. Evidently he was the only one taking a fresh show for Fridays.
  8. It will be simulcast on all networks. Just like last time.
  9. Is Studio A the same as you refer to Studio 1 or is it one of the studios for GMA, Live, or WNT?
  10. Sorry, but it seems reflective of the chaos of Paramount Global.
  11. or move to WLNY? And when is the third hour of CBS Mornings going to be slotted? Or will it replace the Talk?
  12. Read earlier that they announced on the View this am (today's episode was the last of the season) that when they return in September it will be from their new home in lower Manhattan. They showed some Instagram pics that didn't show much but they have seemed to be from there. Anyone have any word when the rest of ABC News/WABC will be moving? I didn't think the building was ready at this point.
  13. I believe they did after the assassination attempt on the former president.
  14. Many years ago, traffic services like Shadow Traffic actually did the reports from their own offices. If the regular person was out, a different Shadow Traffic person would sub. They sat in a cube with WNBC 4 logos etc. Stations now employ their own, and just receive data from whoever provides those services these days. This week clearly became an unusual situation, with Adelle on family leave and Emily taking the week off (probably a pre-planned vacation or whatever). Raphael is a known face to viewers and may have been asked to sub or he volunteered. That's all internal to WNBC. Whether he gets additional compensation that is part of his contract. It is good they did not go the "let the anchor read it approach" or worse, just include the data in the ticker. Especially on a day like today.
  15. I would also think all the uncertainty at CBS and parent Paramount also is a consideration.
  16. When I got up they admitted the MS/Crowdstrike issue was causing issues.
  17. WNBC stuck with regular programming, which is driven by the network. Much of it yesterday was sports. If an affiliate chose to carry the programming on MSNBC, it would have required not carrying what the network was showing. The NBC News Special Report banner at the bottom of the screen on MSNBC has been used before during special news programming. It is being used this morning as Ana Cabrera is hosting the 6 am hour rather than the usual Morning Joe group.
  18. Same last night after NBC News went live.
  19. Where was CBS's lead anchor? The other networks quickly brought in their lead anchors quickly. They also used other well known network anchors or correspondents for the late night coverage. It begs lots of CBS News questions.
  20. An interesting tidbit Shell said courtesy of the Wrap: "I think if there’s going to be a change for CBS, we’re going to probably manage it a bit more aggressively for cash flow, meaning making some harder decisions on time periods and things like that going forward, which you have to when you have a declining business.” Curious to know what is behind his time periods comment. Content or will they do what NBC evaluated and then decided not to pursue regarding the 10pm hour? I'm sure we will see more cheap reality crap.
  21. At the time, it was Fox's strategy. They have the NFC contract. Their desire was to own stations in as many NFC markets as possible. Although there is some flex today, Fox stations still broadcast primarily NFC games.
  22. Several are top 10 markets including N.Y., LA and Boston. Along with WPIX that’s a large amount of stations Nexstar would need divest to buy them and stay under the cap when FCC scrutiny is already a factor. Good luck with that.
  23. They could go greek. Look Alpha, Beta, ... or use a year. I'm sure NBCU suits will have lots of options.
