WABC - 7 Eyewitness News

So today Tanya Rivero and Shirleen anchored this morning. Bill and Sandra on at 5.. Bill solo at 6. Mike reported for the 5. I was surprised to see him reporting over anchoring. Guess it’s the way of “easing” in. It’s been asked but is there a date of when the moves happen?

I assume they utilized him because he’s already around for the shift since he anchors Friday’s 11pm show.

IIRC the plan is that Ritter will scale back to just 6pm while Mike handles 5 and 11pm with Pedro Rivera then moving to weekday mornings right?

Something strange is happening on ABC 7. It's currently 12:03 p.m. and they're airing GMA 3 instead of the noon news.

On what platform? Optimum channel 7 is showing the Noon newscast. Joe Torres Michelle Charlesworth are anchoring and Jeff doing weather

Josh Eineger even went all the way to England to assess how congestion pricing worked out for London.\

Ali Bauman from WCBS did that, too. The story was put on hold when congestion pricing was postponed.

Does anyone know when WABC and the Eyewitness News Operation will move to the new studios downtown in Hudson Square? Was curious because I wanted to make sure I see their final day at the West 66th Street location.

Based on that Charlesworth post from 1/6 (that you responded to), it shouldn't be for a couple more weeks.

so it's indeed mike marza that does the 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm news now on fridays?

i can see why bill ritter has indeed reduced his schedule to 4 days a week when he's going to be almost 75.

That's not unique.  Just to the EWN fandom.  Chuck Scarborough did it for years.  Janice Huff as well.  The reduction in shifts for long time staff members is well deserved.

Recall that Ken Rosato and Lori Stokes anchored the 4:30 am, 5:00 am, 6:00am, mid-morning news updates, and noon broadcasts until Lisa Colagrossi died from a brain aneurysm that her family attributed to her grueling hours, and Ken and Lori in turn demanded (appropriately) a reduction in work.

Morning news anchors doing the Noon/11 am was industry standard for a long time. I'm glad to see many stations cutting back on that. Chris and Mary on WCBS were doing it up until Cindy Hsu took over. Michael and Darlene Don't do WNBC's midday newscast.

This is the case for WNBC but I'm not sure if it's the case for WABC, are the same morning reporters also doing the noon?

I know of at least one station that used the 5pm anchors for the noon newscast back in the day… that may be 6 of one and a half dozen of the other to do it that way. It saved killing the morning folks in terms of a grueling day.

That system makes more sense to me, than having the morning anchors stay through the noon, and the 5pm  team only does that one broadcast. I.e. when Lori & Ken did AM & noon, and Diana/Sade only did the 5.
