promoguy98 252
Talked with a CSD from a legacy Gray Media station this morning. Not going to divulge who, but he told me that eventually all Gray/ex-Raycom stations would be switching to the GrayONE package. His particular station before the end of the year. There are NO music mandates to switch to SAM, but there is a mandate, if you want to term it that way, to switch to GrayONE. It'll be interesting to see if an exception or two are made and the reasons why. I'm still surprised that no ex-Raycom stations have made a switch to Warner Chappell. WTOC and WAFB come to mind as two stations that would have switched, but didn't. So much for those aspects of their legacy.
TheRolyPoly 1986
I'm not in Gainesville now (though I'll probably make another trip there sometime soon within the next month). However, I'm already seeing early indications (via their station IDs online on their newscasts) that WCJB may be one of the next stations to receive GrayONE. They're still using an old pack today (for everything including the weather) but don't be surprised if they adopt the new pack before the end of the year. That said, there are a few stations that can't use that branding right now (examples being WJHG, KCTV and KKTV) because a competitor has long used it. WAVE can now adopt it, but that probably will take a bit of time.

TheRolyPoly 1986
I'm in Gainesville once again for a vacation trip (for a week+) and I'm currently watching WCJB at the moment. They have launched GrayONE but ONLY (emphasizing this) on promos, idents, and select bumpers, such as promoting their free news and weather apps during their newscasts, so its more of a soft launch than anything else. Old graphics still dominate everything else, including the weather. It tells me that WCJB is taking a cautious approach to launching GrayONE and that it will be great once they do (compared to their current look which even now is an improvement from their last look, the last Diversified look they had). The studio probably hasn't gotten the upgrade yet but the package for creative services has been rolled out to them. I've seen this on several Gray stations prior to their launch since it takes more to change out the on-air graphics than to deploy the templates for the promo editors to use.

That said, WABI has fully unleashed GrayOne (and has for a while) so either they had different systems from the Diversified era or the former got an upgrade under Gray that WCJB did not. From what I can tell, the ex-Hoak stations needed the most upgrades (and still none of them are using GrayOne), but most others have been able to transition no problem. mrschimpf 2232
WBAY has GrayOne promos but a lot of their graphics systems have been down lately (their traffic information for instance) so it looks like they're still on some Media General-era (and even Young) systems actively being upgraded. Good point, this could be another layer of complexity for an on-air upgrade by having to upgrade to a new CG instead of simply loading in a new graphics package. Since most stations use the Adobe Creative Suite, these promo projects are very easy to distribute and customize on the local level. I noticed those were the stations with weird new (temporary??) packages, and none of them have GrayOne at this time. KNOP and KSNB graphics are all run and remote produced from KOLN in Lincoln. Gray put a lot of money into upgrading their production flows after acquiring them. They had a special open for the Nebraska State Fair this year that was using elements of Gray One, and some of KOLNs Promos also have elements of Gray One sprinkled into them.
TheRolyPoly 1986
Just saw this on their Facebook page. We already have First Alert 4 (KMOV; the originator) and First Alert 7 (KOSA). Coming soon... First Alert 6 (and GrayONE) on WOWT. EDIT: The logo has already appeared online and on their 24/7 streaming channel, but it hasn't gone over the air yet. Well, if Gray isn't laying off staff already, why not just light money on fire?

Funny enough, the old logo with the Peacock on it is still in the ticker banner at the bottom of the 24/7 Weather stream.

So... what were you exactly doing before then? Aside from this new logo, how does this brand change what's in your rundown? I think we know the answer to that though...
LOWERCASE GUY 251
WYMT has switched to GrayONE fully for weather. The First Alert Weather logo is the same as that of WKYT. The banners are a little different as there's a yellow streak for the morning show which turns into a red streak for the evening shows. When an Alert Day is issued, the logo changes to say First Alert Weather Day and the banner part that is blue turns red. The background is mostly white with blue elements that also change red during an alert day. Here are some attachnments of both the blue and red look.
