Face the Nation to Test Hour Long Format -- Hopes to Make it Permanent.

Brian Stelter reported in the New York Times that on Monday CBS will announce that they are expanding Face the Nation to a full hour, but Bob Schieffer announced it on the show earlier today. As of now, CBS's political show is the only broadcast network one that is not hour-long. The Times reports that as of now, this will be just a temporary expansion to run from next spring to the conventions, but they admit they hope they can make it permanent. Likely they want to have ratings numbers to show to affiliates that an hour long show is good for all. Affiliates have nixed the hour-long format previously.
