  1. Have they caught 20 yet? I kinda have my doubts…

  2. I would call this an improvement, honestly. That gigantic box above the logo never looked good, IMO. Might look even better without a tab over it.

  3. A few more snaps... I believe last night at 11 was the first time the words "Breaking News" were used on CNN with the new look, and there was nothing special about the graphics. Perhaps the different look will be used for more urgent/less expected breaking stories. (The Breaking News open remains unchanged.) When CNN International's CNN Newsroom airs overnight, there is no flipper in the U.S., so it's just the ET/PT time box. I was wondering where their "promo box" would go and I... was not expecting this.

  4. Here's a collection of most of the new "This is CNN" promos. I think there might be some CNNI-specific ones that aren't on here. https://www.cnncreativemarketing.com/cnn-uncut/#open-overlay These are fantastic – CNN at its best. With this ad campaign, I can look past the pretty bland and underwhelming update of their chyrons.

  5. Looks like CNN is debuting their updated graphics (lower thirds) this morning. Pretty underwhelming in my opinion. Not really liking the rounded/bubble corner look or the gradients. Seems cartoonish. The time has been moved to the left side of the ticker and show name to a tab above the L3. There is a red wipe used to animate them on or between changes. I do like the name supers. So far all names have been full size and not shared with a headline.

  6. I remember that and the "Fox 28 Kids Club" well during my summers in Columbus. (At least Yolanda Harris made out well for herself. But what happened to Suzy? ) Back to topic: yes, Stadium is like the Wish version of ESPN 8: THE OCHO if that were a real thing. But it's obvious what Reinsdorf is going to do. The White Sox/Bulls (and maybe the Blackhawks) will be on their own network in '25 and Comcast can wind down NBC Sports Chicago (though I'm sure some would prefer the return of those teams to WGN-TV).

  8. Some of the elements of the new weather graphics package look old and outdated to me since KTRK-TV Channel 13 was using many of these elements 12-15 years ago such as same wind arrows, raised counties, the same way one or two of the 7-day forecast days can be "highlighted", current conditions on a standalone graphic, and all the blank space for the meteorologist to stand next to the graphics on the chromakey. As shown in the video, Channel 13 doesn't use a chromakey for the weather and hasn't in the past 8 years. The current conditions at KTRK are shown with the Towercam and they have three different way to do it: It can hang from the top banner, or pop-in on the right hand side either in augmented reality or directly on the graphic on the weather wall. First they show the TowerCam and then the current conditions pop-up as seen in this video: On the other hand, the forecasts are too confusing and hard to read. The icons are way too tiny, there are no chances of rain or wind forecasts, and tonight's low is missing. The weather tiles don't even match the icons. Take this one as an example: MON, WED have the same tiny icons but different weather tiles. The same for TUE, THU, and FRI. It looks too much like a weather app. Not to mention, KTRK has a 10-day extended forecast so the tiny icons would probably be even tinier if they were every forced to use this package. There is just too much tiny print that would look even smaller if it's not used on a chormakey for many of the new graphics as well. Overall, it's a hodgepodge of old and new, and in my opinion isn't as good as the station's current package.
