I just came across this. Steve Bosh who spent 30 years at KUSI in San Diego has passed away. He also notably co-anchored Independent News Network INN News and WPIX Action News in New York with Pat Harper. https://fox5sandiego.com/video/remembering-steve-bosh-kusi-reporter-passes-away-at-85/10478323/

I'm more surprised that they dumped the Sunday noon show. I mainly thought that show was there so they could have live countdown-to-kickoff coverage of Eagles game days. They used to have Sports Director Gary Papa live at the Linc and other tailgating coverage, but that was back in the day. For those not up to see the weekday morning shows since the schedule change, Action News Mornings has started at 4am for special coverage a few times, and Matt Pellman anchors the weather segment for the 4:30am half hour. Karen Rogers (or Payton Domschke when she fills in) does not come on until 5am.

Since the start of this week, WPVI is showing Good Morning America First Look at 4 am. Action News now doesn't start until 4:30 am. The only Philadelphia station live at 4 am is Fox 29.

Jessica Kartalija is great pick up for WPVI! She was part of the 6ABC float during today's Thanksgiving parade. Pick ups historically from other stations is rare for 'PVI, but not entirely unprecedented. In addition to the aforementioned Jillian Mele and Jessica Boyington from WCAU, Steve Levy joined from KYW in the 1970s. Also, Jeff Skversky and Jim O'Brien freelanced at WTXF and 'CAU respectively before joining 'PVI. In the case of Jim O'Brien, 'CAU passed him over for a full-time role, and the rest is history!

Former "AM Philadelphia" and "Inside Story" host Wally Kennedy has died. He was a versatile broadcaster who was exceptional in conducting live interviews with celebrities and people from all walks of life. After he left 6ABC in 2004, he was an anchor at KYW Newsradio until 2019. He will be missed. https://6abc.com/post/longtime-6abc-host-community-staple-wally-kennedy-dies-76-years-old/15489518/

Action News reported the news during the 10pm show that former Action News reporter Rose Tibayan has passed away. She battled cancer for the past 14 months. Her obituary notes that she was Director of Public Affairs for the City of Chicago’s Department of Budget, Management and Finance before she became ill. https://chicagolabor.org/remembrance-memorials/

Back in February, Trish Hartman co-anchored the Sunday morning news with Nydia Han for 2 weeks. They've definitely been trying things out.

Well, thank goodness Mark is going to be okay. Seems to say he'll be back soon. Wishing Mark, one the originals from the KTLA Morning News still going strong, a speedy recovery. https://ktla.com/morning-news/ktlas-mark-kriski-recovering-from-mild-stroke/

I am still shocked and saddened by the passing of Sam Rubin. As Frank Buckley said, Sam was KTLA. He had a genuine quality every time he was on air. I admired how he would call as he saw it, even at the risk of getting in trouble. If anything, I thought he gave the best insider perspective of the television news business by reporting on the comings and goings at rival stations. I remembered this particular story that he shared on his Facebook page about the time KABC's GM squashed his live interview with Regis and Kelly on KTLA's air. Nobody did more to lift up the curtain on the news business, and it seemed that he genuinely felt that the viewers deserved transparency when it comes to the people they invited into their homes regularly. https://www.facebook.com/samrubinktla/posts/pfbid0BfA7XYxxkwqTFx6bacpcaz6tBaxuCH7WZXFF5f8kwnWraY6oZGjBH3NwgadkmaAil On a personal note, I had the honor to meet him briefly at the LA Festival of Books at the KTLA booth and get a personalized autograph that I will cherish forever. I'm thankful I got to shake his hand and thank him for brightening up my mornings. RIP Sam.

That can make sense.

The one thing I find most surprising is that they had Charlie Van Dyke record an intro for the new 10am show that debuted a few weeks ago.

Over the past few months, I noticed KYW-TV phasing out "Eyewitness News" in favor of "CBS News Philadelphia". It was very gradual, but now it seems like the Eyewitness News name is completely gone after nearly 60 years. The news opens I saw last week said "This is CBS News Philadelphia". As recently as last month, the news desk still said "Eyewitness News".

On the noon show, it's been Alyana Gomez co-anchoring with Sarah Bloomquist yesterday and today. No indication of whether this is a tryout like they've been doing on Saturday mornings or this is the station's permanent arrangement. I believe Sarah has been solo since Brian left to do the 6pm show. If Alyana is indeed getting an anchor slot, good for her! She does very well filling in. And it would fit in their tradition of an all-female team at noon starting with Lisa Thomas-Laury and Chris Wagner, who then anchored with Robin Garrison, who then anchored with Monica Malpass. UPDATE: 1/5/23 Jillian Mele co-anchored with Sarah today. Looks like they will be trying people out on the noon show.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody solo anchor the 5pm program. Ever.

Did anybody see the segment on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver "What In God's Name Are They Covering On WCBS News At 11?"

Brian Taff just announced that Sharrie Williams will be his co-anchor at 4pm and 10pm.

Lisa Thomas-Laury has just revealed that she has been off the air for the past several months undergoing a second bone marrow transplant. https://www.facebook.com/6abcLisaThomasLaury?fref=photo When she made her second return from her illness in 2006, she became the primary backup up at 5pm, for Jim Gardner at 6/11pm, and for Rob Jennings on the weekends. I was disappointed to less of her on the air in recent times, but I guess that's because of her health situation. Wishing her the very best!

It's how KTLA utilizes weekend talent 3 days a week for the midday shows. Their weekend morning weather anchor is on Monday and Tuesday, and their weekend evening meteorologist is on Wednesday through Friday.

Ladies and gentlemen, WPVI's Cap Cities style open, before the happy people montages were introduced. This comes from the mid 70s!! http://www.new.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=43352834151
