Ladies and gentlemen, WPVI's Cap Cities style open, before the happy people montages were introduced. This comes from the mid 70s!!
COOL! I never knew WPVI did that.

Two closes from the 1980 WFMY "Action Center" era with the vastly-underrated "It's All Right Here" theme, also used on WTNH, WLKY and KBTV (now-KUSA).
KHJ (now KCAL) also used this theme in the late 80's.

60 wonderful years of KTLA opens.. the 5th one holds a special meaning for me as i grew up with it for the better part of 5 years. I still get chills down my spine cause that open is too damn cool.

I think most people who watched KTLA in the 90's felt the same way too. I didn't really care much for the newscast in the 1980's, seeing as how KABC sucked the competition dry, but Hal and Jan and later Terry and Lynette were the team to watch.

Beautiful KPIX open used from 1988. Sadly, with budget cuts they went to a near cold open and dropped this animation in 1990.
They also cancelled People Are Talking!

The 1984 KCBS clip was already posted. Nice find though.

Here's a clip from the Bay Area's KTVU from February 1987 featuring "2 at Noon" and "The 10 O'Clock News". It features a story about a young boy who received a heart transplant. But that is not the reason why I posted this link. This like features KTVU greats Barbara Simpson, Elaine Corral, Dennis Richmond, and Leslie Griffith in their younger years. If that's not enough, there's a short cut-off Late Show with Joan Rivers...and check out the 2 at Noon and 10 O'Clock News opens. You may have seen them elsewhere, but they are still a hit!
Now for all you L.A. News fans out there, myself included...here are some ads from KCOP including those legendary News 13 ads with country music dj and KCOP voice Harry Newman.
