It was a nice gesture full of good intention.

    You get offended too easy...

Go sniff some pretty flowers and turn-off the cable tv politics....try a nice hot bath...or a drive thru the country on this nice fall day.

Or try some K-Pop for about 20mins a day...it's fun, and free of politics...and you don't even have to understand Korean to enjoy it.

Or you might want to connect with " a higher power".

    Chillax!

Eaty, I’m not offended, just pointing out that we can speak for ourselves. And when did you unblock me, or did that happen by accident with the transfer?

From all of us at TVNT, Clarice congrats on 40 years at KDFW... and let's go for 50.

I’m happy for her, but need I remind you you were never voted spokesman or press secretary on behalf of TVNT. We are all capable of speaking on our own to congratulate her. Just worry about yourself.

  3. Viewers..left mad. They DON'T LIKE NBC NEWS and The Today Show! This is the worst any kind of network have performed at this stage since 2000. Hoda and Savannah, should move to Fox News! The promotion was a BAD IDEA. There's no more viewers on NBC because GMA and CTM is still tracing neck and neck! Carson, has a bright future in this industry... to leave the morning program! His biggest problem is he can't travel back and fourth.

Wow, you make Robin Red’s hate for NBC sound like love.

  4. Trump and Zucker are kindred spirits. They both failed their way upward, both specialize in outrageous stunts for attention (Zucker with "supersized" episodes of Friends, doubling the length of Today, making a mockery of NBC's late night lineup, and just being at CNN ... and Trump simply by his very existing.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Zucker and Trump have been collaborating on Trump's anti-CNN schtick. For someone with Zucker's mentality, he has to be relishing the free pub CNN gets every time. Who cares if Trump's supporters threaten the life of Jim Acosta when Acosta can milk that pub on Colbert, furthering CNN's brand awareness?

If we're talking about when CNN "committed suicide," it was with the Malaysian Air fiasco. That was a deliberate admission that they no longer wanted to be the credible news outlet they long promoted themselves as, but as a goddam circus instead.

And judging by the ratings, people aren't falling for it. Good.

Supersized episodes worked, not sure what you're complaining about there.

Your collaboration theory is way out there. Do you realize how idiotic that sounds?

The Malaysian Air fiasco was a true news story. Did they overdo it with coverage? Probably. I wouldn't label it as suicide though.

CNN's ratings downturn are likely a result of overcoverage of the current President, nothing more.

  5. Ripa is an egotistical lying women. I have had an awful taste in my mouth from her since that whole Strahan thing where she was appalled that someone would not want to be around her nauseating personality on a daily basis.

People said that same thing when Kathie-Lee split from Regis, then it was sure the show was doomed when Regis split from Kelly. The mass hysteria that would ensue from the program being bumped back by an hour would die out rather quickly. Good Morning America is an ABC program owned and produced by ABC so it should have precedence over syndicated programming.

Additionally I know I'll be in the minority but I do actually like the name a lot!

Fair enough. But Rubin emphasized executives being fed up with Kelly Ripa's demands and ego. We've seen networks make silly decisions with their personalities just to satisfy an executive's egos. Kelly was considered so profitable and important to ABC that they went behind her back to move her handpicked co-host to Good Morning America. GMA is definitely their priority over her.

I should probably edit my post to reflect that the segment was more about getting rid of Ripa than cancelling the entire program. There has been chatter for years now about Kelly’s behavior and ABC’s frustration with it. They were particular peeved about her “protest” 2 years ago.

Is your Google broken? There are several stories in the last few years about Kelly's behavior and it was reported as a large factor for Michael wanting to escape.

To the contrary, you don't get to throw a fit with your employer because they make a business decision you disagree with. Anyone else would roll with the punches and continue doing the job they're contracted to do. Does that not constitute diva-like behavior to you?

It's pretty clear you don't like her. My google is not broken. I tried a few search variations and the only things that come up are with regards to the situation with her and Michael. Michael was not looking to escape, but rather, move on to something better. If he wanted to escape he could've quit. Also, she was not pissed because her employer made a business decision she disagreed with. She was pissed because she was blindsided by the whole thing and found out from outside sources. And no, not everyone else would have rolled with the punches, some people do have some self-dignity.

Funny, because I haven’t heard any of this chatter. The only time she through a fit was with the whole Michael fiasco, and you could arguably say that she was in her right to do so. You have a right to not like Kelly, but no need to fabricate things about her.

  7. WRC is the top station in DC by a MILE. It's not a demotion.

Agreed. When your working for the #1 station in any market, its no demotion because people are watching you a lot anyways.

Honestly, for some mets...yes. That would be a step up. Especially if it were WWL. Literally anywhere else in NOLA...probably not. Guess it depends on what floats your boat--tornadoes and hurricanes vs. blizzards and extreme cold in the winter!

I also think that, for better or worse, a lot of viewers in Philly (and Tampa, where she was before, for that matter) focused on Sheena's...style, rather than substance. DC doesn't work like that. This is a chance to show off her forecasting skills and not be ogled on TV. Doug Kammerer, who I imagine also fit into that "style over substance" category in Philly, did the same move, and it's worked out just fine for him.

At this point, I don't care because Sheena is a great meteorologist. She'll do very well in DC at WRC.

There could be a million things as to why she'd leave a nice afternoon-evening shift in DMA 4 to move to DMA 7

It could be seen as a demotion but maybe WRC came to her and offered her a greater salary despite a different shift? Hopefully she won't be stuck doing stupid segments out in the field where they interviewing businesses or some sort before giving an awful general forcast because they don't have the maps.

Hey, you're not the one making the move; she is. She knew she was going to a station in a lower market for (possibly) a job in the mornings, but she chose it anyway. She got something new and took it. So what if it's a demotion? She's still getting work in a major city and is joining an already-established, highly-praised weather team. What's there not to accept? People move from high positions to lower ones all the time; Just like people moving to higher positions. it's not really something to sneeze at sometimes (at least to me). Just deal with it, and at least be happy for her.

    Whaaaat?

Anyway, Comcast didn't move her out. She chose to leave for a job. They probably gave her the opportunity, but they did not push her out.

    AGREED x10,000

Okay, let’s see you all spin Sheena’s latest move as a “promotion” like last time.

  8. Or know no knows how to use it because we fired all the TDS and experienced staff.

Edit: Also this breakdown must have been known well ahead of time in order for Shep to be in and the Fox crew to build the show. What I don’t understand is if they knew ahead of time why didn’t they have their anchors presenting from the Fox News studio?

If you actually read through yesterday’s posts in this thread instead of randomly chiming in, you’d know that there was no 5pm or 6pm news because of this problem. So yes, they did know of the breakdown ahead of the 10pm show.

  9. FTVLive will still say they were FIRST...

    Doesn't Scott always?

A certain other person often uses the term FIRST on their blog, and then puts a disclaimer at the bottom that some of the info was taken from other sources. And the reasoning is because their first among their “competitors”.

  10. Well I don't wanna keep going because we're just going off-topic but... I'm just a guy who prefers a straight hard news format, something that CBS-TM does.

And also, GMA has just gotten too soft and so much fluff for me.

(Gotten off-topic here but I'm done.)

We are talking about GMA so it’s not off topic. I see though you’ve changed your reasoning of your dislike for GMA.

  11. The new name which shows you complete stupidity about GMA plus the audience format that they still have and I don't know why. And yet, more people continue to tune into GMA.

I like CBS This Morning better even though I don't watch network morning news.

Nothing about what you just said makes sense.

You don’t like one show (GMA) because of it’s spinoff’s name (GMA Day).

And then you like CBS TM better than GMA even though you don’t watch either. How is it that you come up with which you like better if you don’t watch?

God forbid you say something like you don’t like GMA much anymore because you watch it and the content has gotten softer. That would make too much sense.

  12. Good for Judge Jeanine!

Whoopie got her button pushed...she got triggered.

I'm sure the poor, shocked audience member will recover in time for the election.

You know, I try to stay out of the political debates because a lot of people can’t respect that others might have differing views. I’ve lived through many presidents, and there’s stuff that I’ve disagreed with Presidents on. Through every President there has been haters from the other side that sing there usual tone of disapproval just because the President is from the other party. However, this President is different. There are people in his party that don’t like him. He brings out such hate (from both sides) in people, both off and on TV. His actions make people feel like racism is okay, lying is okay, and mistreating women is okay. Maybe Whoopi was out of line (there are many times I disagree with her) but don’t applaud Pirro either as she was also out of line. There was no need for Pirro to call the other co-hosts names.

  13. Methinks WBNX is dunzo. The latest revelation that the buildings WBNX and the ministry have been foreclosed on means the end is near and CBS cut a deal with WUAB post haste.

...and WBNX could be easily absorbed into Tegna, Scripps or even FOX as a future WJW± station. It could even be a guinea pig for Sinclair, Cunningham or Armstrong Williams, or even Nexstar to create a WDVM-like station for Northeast Ohio (Akron and Canton sure could use a news station of their own!)

As for the land it sits on, it's across the street from Portage Crossing, a rebirth of the decrepit State Road Shopping Center. A mixed use venue would be another boon for the neighborhood and it's revival. If the owner of Rex Humbard's unfinished tower (known by another name by locals) gets sold too, it could possibly be finished into what it was supposed to be...

Didn’t you say leave WBNX’s fate for the speculatron?!

Any way WBNX gets bought by Fox (as someone said earlier) and becomes Fox 8 Plus with MNTV programming?

  14. I think that all of the anchors on FOX 29 news are 100 percent bad. I noticed on the evening newscasts, they don't even say good night and or thanks for watching to us the viewers. I will never watch FOX 29 again. That is very disconcerting to us the viewers. All the other anchors on the other stations say good night, but not the FOX 29 anchors. That's dumb

    Julius you should understand something...

Sometimes the anchors get in a pissy mood...

...and they take it out on viewers like you.

They KNOW you are talking smack behind their backs because they can SEE and HEAR you thru the TV screen.

Amazing what today's TV sets can do.

Once you stop watching...they will buck-up and start saying "goodnight" and "have a pleasant tomorrow".

Did you know In England they say "Cheerio" to the happy viewers?

    How cool is that Julius?

Maybe a CW or METV newscast would be better suited for you?

Our point is they ( the FOX 29 News Anchors) don't like you....

...they were gonna fire you as a viewer anyway.

    Sorry for the bad news.

One troll answering another troll. What has this site come to? FYI Julius has been Philadelphia News troll since pre-TVNewstalk days.

  15. Matt Lauer and Katie anchored up until 2006, when Meredith Veria joined.

Because Meredith hosted millionaire she could not appear after 9:00. That when they transition to the "Show with in a Show model" and Natalie Morales began co-hosting the 9:00 with Al Roker

Yeah, I know Meredith couldn’t appear during 9am hour, but Matt rarely appeared there either. I always remember 9am being Ann and Al during that period.

  16. From a source,

According to this person, NBC may move Megyn Kelly to 10:00, but it depends on a few variables.

Apparently Kathie Lee Gifford had schedule to leave TODAY after the tenth anniversary, however that was before Matt Lauer was fired, after that NBC asked if she would stay on due to all the changes happening and Hoda's promotion to Co-Anchor.

Kathie Lee Gifford agreed as long as she would be allowed to take 3 months off durning the summer to film a movie she wrote ( which explains her absence lately). Kathie Lee only signed a 1 year deal and their is no guarantee that she will re up with the network.

NBC is hoping that Gifford stays on... but if she leaves, NBC 's plan is to move Megyn to 10:00 and make the 9:00 hour an extension of the first two hours, where Savannah Guthrie and Hoda will serve as the Co-anchor.

It would be similar to what they did in the early 2000s when Matt, and Katie anchored the third hour.

However the source pointed out that every year since Kathie has joined NBC she signed 1 year deals, and their always was a question about wether she would re up each year.

The time switch was reported on earlier in the thread. I don’t remember Matt and Katie ever hosting the third hour.

Once Kathie Lee leaves, they should give Kathie Lee and Hoda’s Hour to Jenna Bush Hager and bring on Chelsea Clinton to be her co-host.

  17. Network morning television is on the decline overall in local and morning shows.

To me, Today show went downhill a long time ago when they ousted Ann Curry. I don't pay much attention to the Today show anymore. I don't get the big deal with Willie Geist, he has no personality and not even a real newsman. His Sunday show is very boring.

Weekend Today is non existent, I am not a fan of Craig Melvin, his voice is a turn off and he is not relatable.

Willie’s Sunday show kind of requires the no personality type of tone. When he’s on other shows during the week he definitely shows his personality, and I’m not sure how you came up with him not being a real newsman.

  18. CBS is better then NBC and ABC which is more obvious however conservative news outlets are bias as well. What I am insulted with is how mainstream media works to dumb us down.Evening news covers the news that happened in 9AM. Why can't they come up with other news besides doing the same script. This just shows how fixed the news media has gotten. Catering to viewers, my foot. Most viewers are tune to what happened today but the evening news stays in the same box. Also, they work to stir your emotions not inform you why do you think things are so hyperpartisan. We are not living in an informative society but an emotional one that the mainsteam media continues to exploit.

Really, you think CBS is better than ABC and NBC? I still think they are the most left of the big three.

  19. The CBS news bias has cost them viewers.

Same with CNN....same with many other left skewing news operations.

Just like the NFL...conservative viewers just don't care for the CBSEN product. I'm 1000% positive the suits at CBS already know this.

MSNBC picks up the majority of the cable left...leaving CNN "crumbs".

FNC, OAN, Newsmax, Sinclair and some others see that conservative TV has many , many viewers who are on ALL platforms.

That's why you see those operations (conservative) expanding...except maybe "The Blaze".

Is "Political Affiliation" a Nielsen / Comscore demographic yet?

How about LGBT as a Nielsen / Comscore demo?

The CBS product is the problem...not the presenter.

There are NO unbaised newscast anymore.

I'm telling you what is selling right now...and what is not.

    Yes it's totally political.

As a station GM I think dollars...

You think politics...and that's how I make money.

When "democrat and left" is hot and selling....I will tell the KBEX sale weasels to sell left.

But right now..."Right" is "Hot". ask ABC.

Why don't you all ask Jeff Zuker what the viewers are watching.

I don't tell the viewers what to watch.

I just try to make (and take) all the money I can from both sides....and currently the fat white guys with guns are buying ad time....and watching TV.

Let me tell you a little story...

George Soro's just pulled out of a 1.5 million dollar ad buy in San Diego where he was pushing a candidate for local District Attorney. Do you know how many :30's that is??? ...and the worth?

    http://freebeacon.com/politics/soros-drops-1-5-million-san-diego-far-left-district-attorney-candidate/

That's a hell of a lot of money going into TV ads that suddenly got yanked because somebody didn't think that was worth it . The left is just too fragmented right now, and they don't have any direction for advertising with lack of messaging.

Plenty of "appointment viewers " still out there. Think of all the old people stuck in rest homes...watching FNC and Lawrence Welk...just dying for election day when the bus will come...and the seniors will go vote.

People "age in" to more conservative views when they decide they want to keep most of their remaining dollars.

The boomers still have 20 years to bloom.

I have to disagree with you on your assessment. While I agree that there is a growing niche for conservative news, I don’t think “right” is “hot”. “Left” is still the “hot” item. Honestly, what I think most people would enjoy there is a lack of, and that’s “center”.

  20. If I was at ABC Daytime, I'd be filling the schedule with game shows-- Three on a Match at 10am, Winfall (an unsold Merv Griffin pilot from 1988) at 10:30, Run for the Money (a pilot shot for ABC in 1987 that became Going for Gold in the UK) at 1:00, Split Second at 2:00 and The Big Showdown at 2:30.

Here we go again, with the game shows from the 70s no one has heard of. Give it a break. Thankfully you’re not ABC.

  21. I did not know you followed, observed or cared what I said so much or what places I go. I am not talking about you, so you should not take it personally.

I do not follow you. However, I’m observant, your posts stand out, and I have taken notice of your pattern. I’m not taking it personally, it just seems that you have a vendetta against NBC properties, namely Today and NN. And it seems like you repeat the same stuff over and over. I have not bothered looking at your post history, but the only time I have seen you comment elsewhere is after I called you out.
