In addition to the 4 p.m. newscast, WPIX is starting a weekly football themed show called "NY Blitz," which is scheduled to start this Sunday.

I agree with @NYNewsCoverage with regards to who should anchor the new newscast.  Shirley and Kala are great anchors, and Craig has been filling in for Kori.  The idea of Tamsen and Kori doing 4, 5, 6, and 10 is overkill.

Apparently. I saw the talent open a moment ago, and Kori Chambers is the new 10pm anchor. I looked for info on this change and could not find any.

I noticed for the past 2 nights, PIX has been going without a crawl on the 10pm newscast. I like the change, looks more professional, especially without that ugly orange thing on the bottom of the bug. It's not that I'm against crawls, PIX's crawl just looks ugly IMHO. The next thing that should be changed is the background.

The graphics, in my opinion, need to be changed overall, especially the opens.

Well, that was fast! I was rooting for Rich Graziano to turn Channel 11 around. As for Greg Easterly, I hope he gets the PIX job full time, as I strongly believe that the next GM should come from WGN or KTLA.

Well, Jim Watkins left WTNH here in Connecticut this past summer, but I seriously doubt that he would return to WPIX for anything less than primary anchor.

It seems a little odd to have a separate anchor team for just half an hour...It would make sense to have Tong and Blackmon do the whole 6pm hour, as others have mentioned. But the fact that they're adding another evening anchor team makes me wonder if an 11pm (anchored by John and Tamsen) may be in the cards over the next year or two. It would be certainly be an uphill battle, but so is 6:30... That didn't deter KTLA or WGN at the late time slot either. It might at least do somewhat better than whatever they're airing now....

I agree with what you have said, but I don't see WPIX joining the 11 p.m. news race. If anything, there may be plans to finally launch the midday and weekend morning newscasts, provided that Tribune really invests in Channel 11.

I hope that Channel 11 intends to eventually give Kaity and Brenda the whole hour at 6 p.m., because they are deserving of more than 30 minutes.

And Tamsen and John anchoring three newscasts makes no sense to me.

Did anyone watch Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night?

He shows Dari Alexander filling in for sports. Absolutely hilarious. She had no clue what she was reading while Greg Kelly just looked on.

She talked about pitchers "pitching 5-2-3 innings" and "no hit grounders" and just the dumbst things coming out of her mouth.

I can't find it on his website but if anyone has a copy, please post it. It's good for a real laugh, but rather than just make fun of her, how in the world

can the producers ALLOW her to do sports if it's obvious she doesn't even know what game is played with what? As annoying as Greg is, at least he knows some sports, I hope.

Truly another embarrassing moment for Fox.

I saw the clip on Kimmel last night. I personally don't see the "allure" of Dari Alexander...She is not very attractive, and she doesn't seem like the brightest bulb in the pack. What happened in the clip may be proof of the latter.

Clearly someone screwed up by allowing Dari to do sports, but if Russ Salzberg was unavailable that evening, why did they not bring in Ryan Asselta or Duke Castiglione to cover for him? Do the people at FOX 5 even THINK anymore? (Obviously not; see the Dave Price thread.)

Yes, it's another (well-deserved) stain on FOX. Who knows, maybe FOX Television Stations will see the light and show Lew Leone and Dianne Doctor the door!
