  1. This evening, studio 3B received a slight studio update, which included what looks to be a repositioning of the desk and some overall sharpening up of the features of the set. One of the most significant changes is the fact that large monitors behind Williams now serve as the OTS graphics for most segments.
  2. <a href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23BREAKING%3A" rel='nofollow external' class="su_links">#BREAKING:</a> PATH service has been restored between Newark and the World Trade Center, following an earlier fire @ the Hackensack River Bridge
  3. <a href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23BREAKING%3A" rel='nofollow external' class="su_links">#BREAKING:</a> PATH service has been temporarily suspended between Newark and the World Trade Center
  4. There was also a completely different music theme used to go to one of the commercial breaks if I remember correctly .. May have been the first commercial block?

  6. 7. The old "anchoring from the scene" gimmick is something that has been picked up by CBS and NBC, but not by ABC so much lately... And I think David wants to "un-gimmick" it and turn it into a real experience for the viewer rather than just being able to claim he's reporting from the scene of an event for ratings... Like Brian Williams anchored NN from ferguson a couple weeks ago- there was no real value for the viewers... He was standing in a parking lot...

  13. I think it's because there's such a high expectation for change... This thread was basically a "hate on Diane Sawyer" thread before the anchor change was announced, and it really got people excited that there's going to be someone new, that everyone knows and most people love, and this is someone who seems to be committed to presenting the news in a way that hasn't been seen on any network in decades

  21. True, true.. But their crusade for hard news isn't doing much... They may be gaining viewers (albeit slightly) but they also aren't stealing them away from NBC and ABC
  22. RT <a href="http://www.twitter.com/ABC7NY" rel='nofollow external' class="su_links">@ABC7NY</a>: PROGRAMMING NOTE: Eyewitness News will be on at 7 p.m. following college football. Hope to see you then!
  23. That doesn't even make any sense... You can't be "seen" as doing something without actually doing it ... The hard news approach CBS is taking is not working in the ratings, and that's because the majority of the public does not want a newscast of all hard news... What we may refer to as "fluff" is actually just a way to steer away from the horrible stories facing our world, because people can get that news all day. I know it's been said on here before, but clearly the ratings are speaking for themselves. People want to hear good news, and if you refer to feel-good stories as fluff, then so be it. But the average American news viewer doesn't want to hear 30 minutes of terrorism, crime, and racism... I agree ABC was leaning in a direction that often came off as "fluffy" but I feel that could also be attributed to the presentation.
  24. I think whoever made the decision to change it back to "World News Tonight," whether it be the new EP, David, or an exec, is clearly pushing it in the direction of a more "Jennings-esque" broadcast... If they plan to keep the broadcast the same in terms of content and presentation, basically a continuation of Sawyer's tenure, they wouldn't have changed the name. The renaming is a technique of distancing the broadcast from it's immediate past, which some people didn't like, and moving in the direction of their previously well-liked broadcast with Peter Jennings.
