  1. For some reason I thought the 6 had the same short loop, but perhaps that was just a memory from a one-off before on a busy day. I don't usually catch the opens -- and it was in the background when I first heard the switch to Philadelphia; so you may be right.
  2. The other change that seemed to go with this are "full" intros at the 6 and 11. In the grand scheme of things, certainly not the biggest of deals. Really, was more of a "oh weird" when hearing it in the background. At least the classic intro style is still in place.
  3. For April Fools I would have expected the "Mix of 96" to make an appearance
  4. Did they change the open to "Philadelphia's Leading News Program" -- not sure if this changed with the new Spring intro, but definitely something I noticed yesterday, at least at 5PM.
  5. A surprise for sure. I wonder what her role will be? Fill in at 11 could be fun.
  6. First day, first impressions: I think it looks rather modern and an evolution of their prior set. They definitely are moving more towards more stand-up locations than they ever had before. New weather center looks massive. Two different touch-screens will be interesting, as it seems they stopped using it on the old set (at least the shows I caught). Also curious if the "office windows" that have the blue 6abc logos will be weather-aware. (The logo is showing rain...) Everything seems to be high-resolution LED, with exception of a couple screens in the weather center. I think their weather graphics need a little tuning, and may look better over time. I wonder if the "skyline" graphics "behind" the various screens are also LED - different view day/night so far, but if they can use more than two or three set daypart views, that could also be a nice touch. (Of course, they could have done this with their old set and didn't... so I won't get my hopes up.) Wonder why they still have traffic on the chromakey, rather than just use one of the many screens (could be a resolution issue for sure...)
  7. The "final remix" sounds great, but I do wonder how much of that is 2024 post-production capabilities... But to your point, so what, it does sound great (and better than the "bootleg" theme). So the question remains: will it debut (in parts) with the new set (no.).
  8. She apparently started 8/16 Source:
  9. https://www.inquirer.com/arts/action-news-6abc-theme-patriotism-20240630.html Fun article on the theme music, and how locals view it. They had to go through a process to restore the original sheet music. Apparently there will be a special later this summer to cover the attempt at updating the theme to the orchestra version.
  10. It seemed like right after the crash, they stopped using it; but I seem to recall them using it around the Lansdowne house fire/police shooting. I think it was mentioned on the graphics thread that "Action Cam" seems to be retired. Fun to check in on the graphics updates - traffic for example they have updated to the new look.
  11. And to be fair, day one on a package - so maybe it will "return" Overall, it does feel like an evolution of the most recent package.
  12. Much like the X/Twitter handles and the AccuWeather swipe with the meteorologists, it does not appear to be a part of the package.
  13. Totally understand why it is there, and during weather segments, makes perfect sense. Just seems like they could have anything else. A gallery of news vans. A selection of Sky6 views. A museum portrait of Jim Gardner. I made the powerpoint comment, I guess I spend too much time trying to fill space and make interesting slides... The ticker hasn't changed. (Yet?)
  14. Definitely felt familiar, but I like the updates so far. Time & temp look much better than the old alignment, in my opinion. No more Twitter/X handles for talent ID -- was amused how fast those would transition in the prior layout. Perhaps because I have been working on many lately, got a strong powerpoint transition/build slide feeling at times, but again even that feels familiar. I wonder if they will update some of the soft-elements on the set such as the AccuWeather logotype and some of the other LED ticker elements. Of course, the weather set always has the left-edge as a static-thermometer graphic, even when used for news, always found that odd.
  15. So the Big Story so far is... the opening looked like the short-version from Sunday morning (no fancy live weather, etc.) Did have the usual spoken talent intro, however.
