  1. So what keeps them from always using the insert studio?

    Is it a NABET thing?

I imagine there's no way to do cross-talk, when a reporter joins the anchor, from an insert studio like that.

Also, for a national weekday show, that would put too many creative constraints on the technical crew (i.e. no jib shots etc.). Viewers definitely expect more of the weekday newscasts than they do on weekends.

  2. Apparently he's being added into the rotation. I thought he did great.

    Telemundo is obviously proud:

What studio is that? Doesn't look like 3C?

  3. The CBS Evening News beat ABC WNT on Friday with all the day's breaking news.

I remember CBS News winning the ratings for last November`s midterm coverage as well.

Even more telling, ABC News placed third with their coverage. I believe ABC News` editorial decision to "lighten" up their newscasts on a day-to-day basis has resulted in viewers turning to the other networks (especially CBS) when big news breaks. The reason being, viewers are left with the idea that ABC News won't cover big news events as in-depth as the other two channels. CBS News is capitalizing on this trend with their more serious tone - hence, the major ratings improvement for them on Friday night.
