  1. Plus there is precedent for taping the third hour of Today, seeing as Megyn Kelly Today was taped on most Fridays, and Kathie Lee and Hoda have been known to tape Friday editions. That's the most feasible option. But if they go the replacement route you're right, the bench is stretched thin. Unless they go with Kate Snow, Kristen Welker or Hallie Jackson (the latter two being incredibly valuable on the WH beat) or Dave Price/Janice Huff (they'd have to also work 6-7 day weeks unless they left WNBC which they wouldn't). I for one would like to see Sunday Today canceled and have Weekend Today revert to being on both Saturdays and Sundays. But I guess if it means Willie stays off the weekday show as much as possible, I'm fine with him getting Sunday as a consolation prize.

Kendis Gibson joins MSNBC as weekend afternoon anchor 2-4 pm. His first day is January 19th.

Good move. I am concerned about what will happen to Richard Lui, Yasmin Vossoughian and Ayman Mohyeldin. It is my hope they will get hours later in the evening rather than getting moved. Especially Richard who previously held that 2-4pm slot. He's a longtime MSNBC anchor who has always worked the weekends, and has something of a following with loyal viewers.

Watching  CBSN  New York right now.   Not bad at all.     Commercials are a little repetitive.  But it's a good broadcast. (or streamcast, I guess)      Is it supposed to be live 24 hours a day ?

No, it's live from 7-8am, 1-2pm and 7-8pm, as well as simulcasts of WCBS and WLNY's broadcasts. It will also be alive for special events and breaking news coverage. No word on weekend coverage plans, or if there are any. In CBSN's (original) beginning months there were no weekend broadcasts other than repeats of CBS Network broadcasts.

CBS3 stealing NBC10's thunder, with the announcement that Jessica Kartalijia will join from WJZ as their new evening co-anchor. She fills the void left by Jessica Dean who joined CNN in Washington. As a long time viewer of Jessica, I understand she and her family live in either Baltimore or Harford County. I wonder if she'll end up commuting to Philly (about an hour and 45 minutes) initially before moving.

Politics aside, I've had communications with Ketterer every once in a wild and the guy's kinda batsh*t. And also a fringe conspiracy conservative (despite once running for Congress as a Dem), so I wouldn't put it past him to come forward like this with political motivations in mind.

  6. Do we think maybe they were experimenting? FOX's conservative audience certainly hasn't taken a liking to Shep as of late, and maybe he's tired of the nonstop political on cable. Perhaps they were taking the technical difficulties as an opportunity to test Shepard on FOX5. Probably not but just a thought

  7. What studio at FNC were they using?

The building has three empty studios - Studio A which, until 2017, was home to The O'Reilly Factor and is used for Watters' World once a week; Studio J where Huckabee, Mike & Juliet, The Five, Outnumbered and studio audience shows were based out of, and Studio E where Happening Now, Cavuto, & Fox and Friends were based out of...

    They were in Studio J

  8. It was nice to see the morning talk show format hosted by someone actually capable of making it enjoyable, watchable television. I've tried to like Megyn and I think I do like her as a person, but Megyn Kelly Today is unwatchable. If Savannah, or Hoda, or even Sheinelle Jones or Dylan Dreyer hosted a show with this format I could enjoy it. Based on the tweets it sounds like Hoda, Al, Carson and Kathie Lee will get a crack at it while Megyn's away. Can't wait. But I can wait for Megyn to get back...

  9. Well this is a surprise. Adam May is leaving Baltimore to his hometown of Minneapolis for corporate communications and a better work schedule for him and his family. He rejoined Baltimore news in October 2016 after Al Jazeera America closed. Before that he was at WJZ.

He mentioned it ever so briefly at the end of the 10 & 11pm Sunday night. Kai was off. A very low key sendoff for one of the most prominent faces in the market

  10. Cecilia seems like too valuable a player to be doing a diminished GMA news anchor role. She should stay in Washington and build her cred as a leading political correspondent, and then a few years down the road move on to anchoring full time. I think it's time GMA drop the news anchor role like Today did. Also, I'm sure Amy will still fill-in for Robin when she goes to 20/20. Elizabeth has all these years.

  11. If I didn't know any better I'd venture to guess execs are testing out a new trio. I think it's apparent to everyone who watches Michael just doesn't work in this format, and even though they've tried him on serious interviews, he just doesn't have the chops for it, and doesn't clash well most of the time. Idk maybe a broad assertion but the fact that this is the first time anyone has filled in for Michael instead of just Robin and George indicates they're trying new things over at the Alphabet network.

  12. Today's open had Sheinelle Jones, Craig Melvin AND Dylan Dreyer named on screen and in the VO...I guess that's official now then.

Not taken them long at all to silently announce that...

It's been like that for a while. Dylan still just does weather and orange room but I guess they wanted to give her a bit of a consolation prize after losing her temp duties at 9am

  13. The TODAY Show has become a Fake Morning News Network bad bad ratings. Get rid of Megyn and Carson. Good Morning America is winning the ratings war.

This is an utter lie. They're winning the demo and overall viewers since Matt left.

    I found it: https://www.today.com/video/look-back-at-the-biggest-news-stories-of-2017-on-today-1123080771583

It aired on Saturday and No clips or voiceovers of Matt. Willie, Lester, and Craig are heard a lot

That's their top news stories review but the Today Show moments year in review featuring the hosts smiling faces, bloopers, funny moments will almost undoubtedly not air this year. Editing Lauer out when he was present over 90% of the year would be tricky, but also very awkward.

  14. I too think the Evening News will become more WNT-like, however, it'll be difficult to fully pull it off mostly due to the fact that CBS's reporter base is so old compared to ABC. I'd find it hard to see someone like John Blackstone doing a minute long package with the phrases "fast moving", "dramatic" and "chaos" used, sometimes all in the same sentence.

  15. I'm really excited to see this and wish them good luck but I wonder if there's actually a market for that. Sure everyone SAYS they want just the news, but there is a reason HLN dropped that format, and a reason CNN, FOX and MSNBC are opinion and panel fighting all the time. It gets ratings and if people wanted to just see news looped it's what all the networks would be doing. If people want just the news they go online

  16. Which his such a sudden change. Less than a year ago, he had a weekday afternoon MSNBC slot, filled in for Lester Holt on Nightly News and filled in on Weekend Today. Now, he files one or two Today reports a week and anchors the early morning weekend slot on MSNBC. He must have pissed someone off, or a new exec just doesn't like him (Lack?)

  17. http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2017/07/27/kasie-hunt-msnbc-show-241041

Politico reports Kasie Hunt is in talks for the 6-8pm ET slot on Sunday nights, a similar slot to that filled by Ari Melber before moving to 6pm ET weekdays this past Monday. If true (It is, Politico has had a number of scoops on MSNBC shake up) it makes you wonder where will Thomas Roberts go. They said he'd get the weekend evenings, including the 8pm ET hour, but that was over a month ago.

  18. I'll say this from a non-partistan perspective, Greta was very hard to watch. She just was a sloppy host and didn't really offer anything. As an NBC News/MSNBC loyalist who watches virtually every show all the way through, I honestly did not watch more than 5 minutes of her in 6 months at the network. As for Ari Melber, he's nothing special either. They're trying to sell him as a serious, unbiased journalist but his liberal commentating past is evident. He'll do better than Greta, but I don't think he'll be the major draw someone like Joy Reid would be. If Greta was fired for her poor ratings (every hour from 4pm to 11pm grew in total and demo viewers except hers) they should look at Chris Hayes next.

  19. She did a pretty good job in my opinion. With the rest of the anchors there, some graphics, etc., I'm sure it would go even smoother. I may be a little biased, I watched Lindsay co-host the NBC4 Washington talk show Daily Connection (where she met husband Craig Melvin). If it's not GMA, it's gonna be something big because she's quite talented
