By WKMG you mean WCPX or WDBO in Orlando FL?

Quite the discovery last night in the basement here. I am getting these digitized today and will get some compilations uploaded to YT.
A couple notes…the WKMG early 80s image campaigns and what is aka “Tuesday11” is called “Heart of…” and “Action News” is actually called “Look to Us”
These reels are the master reels. I had previously found the station dubs that were in fairly poor condition. These reels are in pristine quality.

The smash cut to the First Alert sting at 0:49 was very awkward and clunky; otherwise the tease and open were spot on and basically how the news should open. I get it, though, with first-day jitters and working things out, but again, otherwise, so far it looks very good - a case study in how other stations can and should use the GrayONE package. (Can't wait to see how WDBJ and WWBT do their versions when they launch there.)
That was a coding error in Ross OD. I made stingers (like you saw play out) and I made “open stingers” that sting out after the open seamlessly…the coding was swapped and that’s what occurred.
Thank you. This has been a dream project. I was literally given the keys to drive the whole thing without any interference from other management…just “how can we help.” and hat tip to Matt Quinn, Tristan and team for letting me version it out. They all deserve a big hat tip as well. They give us the tools to build masterpieces.

I don't think the sting and the graphic line up well. Something with a little more urgency/tempo would work better (IMO), especially coming out of the open which has a little more energy to the music.
The reason I went with this cut is it was the cut we used in the 00s for First Alert weather. It has an urgency that I like. I tried other cuts from the updates when putting this together and preferred the cut from Disk 3.

I’m surprised at how well Hello News works with a modern graphics package. It’s a little clunky with the First Alert Weather sting, but the open fit well.
What’s clunky about it?
Agreed. It proves my point that any music can work as long as the voiceover and cadence of the open match. -

Kinda odd to own the library but switching over to SA music instead... *shrug*
We aren’t switching to Stephen Arnold.

It’s a company wide initiative to improve our local imaging and branding.
Not to be rude but you might as well wait because soon you’ll be able to put every Gray station on your list that doesn’t have a network logo included in their branding.

One of the best local news themes ever produced! Great to see it being brought back!
I wonder if anyone has asked Frank Gari for his reaction. He must be proud.
I have attempted to reach out to him through contact info that is public but have had no luck unfortunately. I’d love that!

We are doing a year long celebration leading up to it. We went on the air 10/31/49.

I am extremely excited to announce that "Hello News" and "Hello Quad Cities" has officially made its return to KWQC-TV6, and will soon return to all shows and newscasts permanently effective Tuesday at noon when we kick-off our 75th Anniversary Celebration. This has been in the works for sometime, and wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for my station manager giving me free reign. The amount of calls, emails and messages since last night has overwhelmed all of us, but what is most notable is the huge morale boost in the building from all of the employees. There is not a person in the building who hasn't been caught humming the chorus. Here's a clip of the open and close from last nights special, and also a sneak peak at the new open that begins on Tuesday. My favorite part is the image campaign that I have been working on for months now...but that will have to wait until Tuesday.

I designed this open. We needed something fresh pretty badly so I whipped this up using some aesthetics from GrayOne.Without giving away the details, I can tell you a 3 phase relaunch is in motion. Phase I begins October 31st as we begin our 75th year, Phase II will begin in early January with some more really big changes. Then phase III happens middle of next year. And yes, part of this rebrand is launching GrayONE. So, stay tuned for some really exciting changes!

Sounds like a bunch of examples of separate packages. Is there anything 'revealed' here?

I saw a video on YouTube from JCD Creative showing a vastly improved and well produced graphics package. I don’t know if or when it’ll be implemented, but I really hope they do so soon.
I appreciate the positive comment on our graphics we designed! You should be seeing this hit air very soon.

Reggie Roundtree/Frank Robertson interview
Former WOFL/WTSP/WSVN anchor Charles Billi sat down with former WTSP anchor Reginald Roundtree and former WTVT anchor Frank Robertson. Things get candid, especially with Reggie. Pretty cool interview!

I agree, I thought I heard a WCCO version of that image, because I vaguely remember 'CCO, we're coming through....could be wrong..plus there is a slew of stations missing from the list who also used this package. I wonder too how this got ID'd as a Tuesday package.
-
NMSA has ID'd the 80's/90's package "The Best News of All" as that of Tuesday Productions.

This was just an old picture he posted for memories. He is not coming back to TV (yet).
According to a latest post…he is. He’s going to be part of a new program called “Goin’ Places” that will air on WMOR-TV in July. Here’s the promo he shared on his Facebook page. Ricc Rollins whose hosting the program comes from WTVT.

They were also the ad agency that coordinated The Best News of All in 1985. It won an Effie!
Still like to know who wrote that package....I have my suspicions...
