  1. Lately, I've also seen Peter working the White House beat and titled "NBC News National Correspondent".

But if Kasie moves to anchoring, does that mean Garrett Haake moves to take her Capitol Hill beat?

    MSNBC Daytime is weird.

It looks like Kasie is only anchoring 1 night a week. She can easily hold on to her reporting duties.

  2. No, no, no please no, no no

It's not good "waking up" music...it's fine everywhere else but not in the AM.

What are you talking about, the mission has 4 parts. Your probably thinking about parts 1 (Nightly News) and 4 (Meet The Press and Special Reports) those parts I agree arent good for the morning, but part 3, which is litterarly called "Scherzo for Today" .. it's absolutely perfect for the morning..

  3. This is honestly the coolest thing/news open I have seen in my entire (17 year old) life

It appears that Nightly News has an updated look. They have kept the same music but with a new open. Not sure if new graphics are coming but I imagine they are.

  4. I recall him doing this a few times like an NYC church Fire and the LAX Shooting false alarm. He streams on facebook live.

Lester Holt using citizen journalism in light of the explosion in Chelsea neighbhorhood of New York City.

I can't recall ever seeing a top anchor going in the frontlines and talking among the people and doing his own report without any producers.

  5. I think it's a good move, I find it absurd that most of the networks go to taped programming at 11pm ET/8pm PT.

I dislike ending live at 11 because i think it forgets about the west coast

  6. Bizzare thing just happend, NBC10 news at 11pm started 3 minutes early after a phillies game went long, 57 minutes long to be exact. Instead of just keeping the sports broadcast up to 11 or going to break, Tom Mccarthy said, NBC10News starts right now. You could tell the tech engineer wasnt used to this as half the intro got cut off. It didnt appear they moved the entire show up though as George Spencer threw immediately to weather than for a minute talked about the NBC Universal charity thing before saying NBC10 news at 11 starts now as he previewed the upcoming news storys which were followed by another intro, not to mention that the first 3 minutes included no timr or tempature.

  7. The City Hall shot would look good during the daytime newscasts (11 AM, 4 and 5) and the Philly skyline for the 6 and 11 PM. At least it gives them a way of differentiating between newscasts.

    I couldn't agree more

  8. NBC10 is finnaly switching up the camera that feeds the background video in the studio. Its obviously very crisp like the camden camera but only works well during the day, i wonder if they will switch back after the DNC.

  9. FMZ has 3 people at the RNC in Cleveland -- seems a little overkill to me? Wendy Davis being one of them.

It's strange -- when either Rob or Wendy are off, it's just solo with the other. But right now, Rob is off and Wendy is at the RNC, so Jim & Joy did all the newscasts this afternoon, and also tonight. Why can't one of them fill in for Rob or Wendy on a regular basis?? Their substitute policies make no sense! I really hate when Eve or Jaciel anchor a 4 hour morning newscast by themselves.

EDIT: Wendy scored an interview with Dan Rather. That's interesting.

Possibly they have 3 there in Cleveland becuase when they have 3 reporters in philly it wont seem like they are favoring one convention over another.

  10. Funny thing happened on Morning Joe this Morning, as they were going to break at around 9:40 (mika was talking) joe got a call from MSNBC president Phil Griffin, joe announced this on air saying something on the lines of "our boss Phil Griffin is calling, are we fired." He then picked up the phone and told phil that "were live on the air." Bizzare moment, i assume phil didnt realize that morning joe ends at 10 when they are at the convention.

  11. From what I've heard some Philadelphians don't like change. But for those out of area - what is the WaWa Welcome America Festival and was the WCAU broadcast that bad?

Wawa Welcome America encompasses most of the city's 4th of july celebrations including a parade at independence hall and an evening concert on the parkway. The Jim Kenney Administration has brought some changes to the event this year. The audio at the parade was bad mostly due to feedback that was cuased by the anchors voices being played on the loudspeaker on Independence Mall. It was clear that nbc10 focused there efforts on the evening concert which was done very well. A producer told me on twitter they were using 14 cameras. They only seemed to use 4 cameras at the parade though (guessed the numbe). The true issue at the evening concert was not the fualt of NBC10 though, the level of talent amoung the peformaces was lower the last year in large part due to the absense of the Roots. A major change this year is that the concert dies not end with fireworks like in past years, instead the main concert ends at 8 which is when NBC broadcast the New York Festivities. The local coverage is set to resume with fireworks at 10pm.
