I still think KDKA-TV deserves to be in the conversation to do a CBS Weekend News as well.

Hope WNCN gets to do a CBS Weekend News Newscast. Fingers Crossed...

Is WTSP seriously switching to this logo?

At least WTSP’s logo looks better than this crappy logo.

  4. This is from WTKR’s TV3 year (because the station did this look for just over a year) in March of 1995. With the flashy open that synced with “Global Village” by SAM (which WTKR Commissioned), this is the only news music by Stephen Arnold that I like.

Am I the only one that thinks they missed a good opportunity to reintroduce the steamboat whistle? (And steamboat footage in the back of the 5 logo?)

You are not the only one... The steamboat whistle sounding before the open was part of WMC-TV’s history for a long time. Gray should’ve recognized the steamboat relevance to the station.

  6. Much improved. Now part of me wonders if this new logo is corresponding to a rebuilt news department at some point. Surely, Nexstar wouldn't go through the effort of giving this also-ran a new logo if they didn't have plans in place... I mean, fourth time is the charm right?

If they do rebuild the news department, it would be produced by WSYR since WWTI is a semi-satellite of WSYR-TV.

  7. WMAR in Baltimore is changing up in branding name to WMAR 2 News [Working for you]. IMO It should've just went as Maryland's 2 News. Anyway, here the new logo.

I like that Scripps brought back WMAR’s 2 that was used from the 1970s-Early 2000s

  8. 65 years ago today, a Station on channel 43 in York, PA signed on the air, giving the Susquehanna Valley another choice for television other than WGAL. That is WPMT (signed on as CBS affiliate WSBA-TV, a TV sister to WSBA 910 AM at the time), which is the oldest UHF Television Station that continues to operate today that never changed it channel since sign-on (The first continuously operating UHF station ever belonged to KPTV in Portland, OR, now on channel 12). Here are some promos from WPMT in 1990.
