You must be picky. You were used to Ellen on WPTV; why do you want her back on that station? Is it because they have higher news ratings?

KIRO was taken off Frontier FiOS in some Seattle eastern suburbs (most or all of which is not served by CenturyLink) due to a dispute between Frontier and Cox. That happened earlier this month.

I can see pixelation in the opens and a legal ID mentioning WTLV instead of WJXX, probably because it was meant to be very temporary. I also saw an Allbritton-era WJXX ID at the beginning of the video. Speaking of Gannett: Have you knew before that the 1990s version of the Deathstar was used on WKYC, KVUE (owned by Belo from 1999-2013), WTLV, and WMAZ? I still can't find a video of KXTV's Deathstar or KPNX's use of the 2000s version of the Deathstar ID (also used on KUSA and WUSA).

That lighthouse reminds me a little of the current Scripps ID. Interesting for both of them.- 3735 replies

Or lower. For example, WXIA 11Alive going from 2nd place to 11Dead last, and KPNX going from the market leader to 3rd place (or lower). What stations are immune to Tegnaitis? Maybe KUSA, KVUE, and/or WCNC? I hate to say bad things about Gannettegna, but a once-great company is now a shadow of what it used to be, like Sears and Kmart. The Deathstar can cause death to ratings (pun intended).- 3735 replies

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
Conrad replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
KXTV is a legacy Gannettegna station. Gannettegna owned them since 1999. KVUE was owned by Gannettegna from 1986-1999 and again since 2013 (due to Gannett's purchase of Belo). I hate to say bad things about TEGNA, but look at all the stations TEGNAitis has struck. Gannett gave WXIA, KPNX, WTSP, KXTV, and KSDK life. Then they became TEGNA, who basically took it away. TEGNAitis also struck ex-Belo stations such as WFAA and WWL. On the bright side, ex-Belo stations WFAA and KVUE made ratings gains for last month's sweeps. KXTV was owned by Belo until 1999. In 1999, Belo traded KXTV to Gannett and got KVUE in return.- 3735 replies

Hearst has done the same thing. Your turn, Graham and Scripps' ex-MGH stations.

The 2000s version of the Gannett Deathstar as used by KUSA: (2005-2009 version) (2009-2011 version) And WUSA: (used from 2009-2011)
-
Not too classic, but a bunch of Gannett Deathstars. KPNX's Deathstar from 2001: WUSA's Deathstar from 1997-2005: KUSA's Deathstar from 1995-2005: KUSA's Deathstar from 2005-2009 (in 2009, elements of the Gannett standardized package were added):

Meanwhile, American Spirit-owned Raycom stations are still not on DirecTV or AT&T U-verse yet.

Reminds me of KTVK.

Newsy is owned by Scripps. Comcast also now carries Newsy. FUN FACT: Scripps used to own cable systems until Comcast bought them out in 1995.

Do any other ex-MG stations use Nexstar URLs?
-
KLFY has been Nexstar-ized. Do they have a Nexstar URL?
-
KGTV's site already blocks users who have ad blockers. So this wasn't much of a surprise. But Scripps now is really wanting you to see banner ads on their sites, and I don't like that.

WWMT's news opens from 1996-2006 takes cues from the Hearst camera opens, when they used Signature. WISN (Hearst) is sort of literally across the lake from WWMT (at the time Freedom). They stopped using the music at the beginning of 2007 (switching to Enforcer) due to SESAC, and changed graphics and branding at the same time.
-
WXIN used a rip-off of the first generation Fox O&O graphics in their opens from 2006 until they went HD in 2009. The Fox O&O music was used though. Sister stations WTIC and WPMT used the actual Fox O&O graphics.

Nexstar is no longer in Jacksonville. Ironically, considering they bought the station from Media General in 2009, WCWJ has been sold to Graham Media Group.- 3735 replies

Other than WXYZ and KSHB, are there any Scripps stations with drones?
-
No response yet. Feel free to respond--maybe they are trying to copy WMAR (which also has a WeatheRate seal of approval, and a 2 degree guarantee).
-
For the past 2 years, WUSA has been claiming that they have the most accurate forecast, with a WeatheRate seal of approval, and they also now have a 3 degree guarantee as of 2015. Any opinions?

Reminds me of NPG owning every station in the Yuma/El Centro area.
