KNXV Morning Meteorologist Iris Hermosillo is leaving the station permanently when she goes on maternity leave in October.  She's been with the station 12 years.

Before she was at KNXV in Phoenix, she was at KCTV in Kansas City.

Because Perry Sook is a greedy, stupid idiot who has long promulgated the lie of himself being this suave, savvy businessman. Obviously he won't sell any stations because of a loss of clout with retransmission revenue against the telecoms. Plus he's been used to past FCCs that didn't give a flying crap over how many rules he violated or loopholes he exploited, and now the chickens have come home to roost.

Nexstar has only willingly sold two stations in the company’s history: KBTV and WJMN. That tells you all you need to know.

I expect him and Nexstar to completely fumble and bumble this and WPIX winds up being forced to be sold to a company hostile to Nexstar and the CW, and he can kiss the network's flagship goodbye.

Nexstar did sell 6 other TV stations in 2016 to Heartland Media including:

KQTV, Ch. 2, St. Joseph, MO

    WAAY, Ch. 31, Huntsville, AL

WFFT, Ch. 55, Ft. Wayne, IN

WLFI, Ch. 18, West Lafayette, IN

WTHI, Ch. 10, Terre Haute, IN

KIMT, Ch. 3, Mason City, IA

    10 Lets Make a Deal

    11 Price is Right

    12 Local News

    12:30 Y&R

    1 NEW SOAP: The Gates

    1:30 B&B

    2 The Talk

This is simplest way to accommodate the new soap without massively altering or confusing CBS's daytime lineup. Y&R remains in it's successful 12:30 ET slot, Gates airs at 1 to get the carryover audience, and the fans don't change the channel because they know Bold is coming on right after.

One problem with this schedule is that CBS affiliates in the Central & Mountain time zones may balk at the idea of having a network show at 9AM.

I wonder what it would be like if Hearst and/or Graham owned a lot of small market stations as well though. Combined, they have only one station in markets below #100.

I've wondered what would have happened if Hearst acquired the former Fisher TV stations instead of Sinclair in 2013.

If that would have happened, then KLEW-TV in Lewiston, ID would have become a Hearst station.

  5. I originally posted the following on the Ion board: I wonder if, based on the programming & branding changes that have occured at KUPX, KMCC & KASW, Scripps owned independent TV station KMCI-TV, Ch. 38 in Kansas City, MO, will eventually drop it's longtime "38 the Spot" branding & start using some branding like Kansas City 38 or even KC 38?

  6. A little bit off topic, but I wonder if, based on the programming & branding changes that have occured at KUPX, KMCC & KASW, Scripps owned independent TV station KMCI-TV, Ch. 38 in Kansas City, MO, will eventually drop it's longtime "38 the Spot" branding & start using some branding like Kansas City 38 or even KC 38?

Amazing and historic footage. What makes this unique from any other coverage that day was live audience reaction to the events as they happened. Thanks for the notice. I wonder where this actually aired?

According to some old archived webpages, WB affiliate KWGN-TV, Ch. 2 in Denver, CO, was carrying Live with Regis & Kelly around 2001-02, however there's a chance that even they would have not carried this episode either as they usually aired the show between 9-10AM MT.

The first attack happened at 6:46AM MT & was before KWGN-TV's morning newscast which, at the time, started at 7AM.

I think that there is a 50/50 chance that they would have been carrying a live feed from CNN, or NYC sister station WPIX, that morning.

  8. The ATSC 3.0 signals of the CBS & MyNetTV (Both Gray owned.) & ABC & CW (Both Hearst owned.) in Kansas City, MO are now encrypted. The ATSC 3.0 signals of the Fox (Nexstar owned.), independent & NBC (Both Scripps owned.) & PBS (Locally owned.) are still in the clear.

  9. A rare sign on from KOAA-TV, Ch. 5, Pueblo, CO, from 1987, featuring both the a variation of the 1979-86 & 1986-current NBC logos!

Did KOAA-TV come up with the "Proud N 5/30" logo a year, or so, before NBC debuted their current logo & KOAA-TV decided to tack the current NBC logo onto their "Proud N 5/30" logo?

Are you talking about Steven Walsh? That guy gets on my nerves (and as someone who speaks with Ntropolis regularly, I can definitely confirm Steven grinds his gears as well).

Yesterday on my classic video channel, 31 Rewind (shameless plug: please subscribe, as I have lots of unique content on the way), I uploaded a set of KSAT breaks from 1988. Not even 10 minutes later he had the legal ID up from that video on his channel. It was a late night post too so it makes me wonder if this guy even sleeps. His titles all follow the same formula: “(CALL) id (YEAR)” and have nothing in the description. Not even a credit/courtesy to the original upload. THAT part frustrates me the most - does not take much effort to credit the original uploader if you feel the need to do this, considering that it costs money to source the tapes, buy the right equipment to digitize them, actually digitizing them (a 6 hour tape will probably take, gasp!, 6 hours to digitize) and then time editing and uploading them.

People like him and KLMO (I have no shame in calling him out - it’s VERY well known here in the community I despise the guy since the day he ripped off my main channel branding on one of his secondary channels) get on my nerves and frustrate me, but ultimately there’s little I can do.

Those two are also THE reason I watermark my videos now. I hate doing it, because it takes away from the purity of the content. But I also don’t regret doing it, as it’s easy now to keep track of where my stuff gets used, and I’ve been surprised to see where some of it has ended up too!

There was also a YouTube channel named Alton Wright that was doing the same thing, only with PBS TV stations. He hasn't uploaded anything in over a year & seems to have given up on the channel.

  11.

Some commercial breaks from KDEB-TV (Now KOZL-TV.), Ch.27 in Springfield, MO, from the last few weeks of their ABC afilation. They switched to Fox\independent in October 1986, changed callsigns to KSFX in 2005, dropped Fox, switched to being independent & changed callsigns to KOZL-TV, in 2011 & picked up MyNetworkTV in 2014.

  12. A 10PM news teaser open & first few minutes of a 10PM newscast from KMTV-TV, Ch. 3 in Omaha, NE, from February 4, 1986. This was about 5 months before the switched networks from NBC to CBS. I found this, recorded in Beta III speed, on a Scotch Beta Tape that I got off of eBay.

  13. A commercial break from then WB affiliate WBFX-TV (Now CW affilate WCWG-TV.), in Lexington/Winston-Salem/Greensboro &  High Point, NC, from August 10, 2000, just 18 days before they changed their callsign to WTWB-TV. At the time, they were owned by Pappas Telecasting (Now owned by Hearst & a sister station to WXII-TV.) & had cheap, primitive graphics.

  14. An odd 10 second TV station ID from KBSI-TV, Ch. 23 (Fox), Cape Gireadeau, MO, ca. 1990.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAmXxWFJ5Nk

The guy running the channel that the above clip is on (That Random Oshawott) has been uploading a bunch of extremely rare stuff from the Cape Gireadeau, MO\Carbondale, IL\Paducah, KY TV market (WSIL-TV, WPSD-TV, KFVS-TV & KBSI-TV.) from the early-mid 80's-90's & later recently.
EDIT: For some reason, I can't get the video to embed.
