Guest NewsHound
With WJBF and WAGT set to move ever closer into their new studios across town, WFXG FOX 54 is making news themselves. Literally. The newly-acquired Raycom station is currently building a newsroom onto their existing studios to make way for a brand new news department, terminating the existing local news share agreement with WJBF, who has produced their newscast since the station launched 10pm news in 2004. The new untitled WFXG operation, which I'm guessing will continue with the "FOX 54 News" name will be debuting by October 1st. It will continue with it's 10pm hour, expanding the newscast from 30 minutes to 1 hour. The station is currently hiring all new personnel, buying equipment, and a satellite truck. WFXG's general manager Barry Barth says the move is on good terms. However, nothing was mentioned about if it had anything to do with the WJBF/WAGT move. Barth did mention that portions of the new newscast will involve other Raycom stations, like Savannah, Columbia and Charleston, so the hour-long show will have a regional feel to it. I mean who runs Paid Programming in the early afternoon? WFXG does... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11333-wfxg-to-launch-in-house-news-operation/ Share on other sites
