MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - A big name in local media was arrested for OVI in Middletown early Friday morning.

Middletown police say Randy Michaels — the man in charge of a nationally-known investment group called Merlin Media, which recently bought several radio stations from Emmis Communications — was arrested at the intersection of State Route 122 and I-75 at 2:05 a.m. Friday.

Michaels bonded out of jail in his own name at 5:20 a.m. Friday after he paid $615, according to Middletown police.

Michaels, whose real name is Benjamin Homel, was also the CEO of Jacor Communications. Jacor owned 700 WLW before it was sold to Clear Channel.

Also, Michaels was formerly the Tribune CEO, but was forced to resign because of allegations of personal misconduct last fall.

Police have not released any additional details about Michaels’ arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Oct. 21.
