Reno, Nevada station KTVN (owned by Sarkes Tarzian, Inc.) is mourning the passing of its longtime sports director JK Metzker. 41-year-old Metzker, who had been with the CBS affiliate since 1997, died from injuries suffered from a hit-and-run auto-pedestrian collision on North Virginia Street near 17th Street on the northeast side of Reno, that occurred Saturday night around 11:50 p.m. PST, as he was leaving the University of Nevada's football venue Mackay Stadium after covering Nevada's 42-28 win over the University of Hawaii.

Metzker was crossing North Virginia when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Witnesses led Reno Police to the vehicle, which was located a short time later by a deputy from the Washoe County Sheriff's Department. On Sunday afternoon, police arrested Ryan Joseph Rhea, age 23, of Sparks, Nevada for the incident and was charged with one felony count of hit and run causing death. Alcohol is likely a factor in the hit-and-run, and as the investigation continues, additional charges may be filed against Rhea pending blood test results. Metzker leaves behind a wife, Jaimie, and three young sons Tommy, Tanner and Luke.

We at TVNewsCheck send our condolences to his family and the KTVN staff at this time. Condolences to the Metzker family can be posted on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/metzkerfamily or be sent via traditional mail to the Metzker family, c/o KTVN-TV, 4925 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502.

He leaves behind his wife, Jaimie, and three young sons Tommy, Tanner and Luke.
