WDAF's VP of news abruptly resigns

Bottom Line Communications reports that Bryan McGruder, who served as vice president of news at Kansas City Fox affiliate WDAF-TV, has resigned from the Local TV-owned station... with no reason given for the sudden exit. The article points out the oddity of his departure occurring the week that the November sweeps period starts, on Friday (October 26). McGruder joined WDAF in December 2002 after serving in the same position at former sister station WHBQ-TV in Memphis, and was news director for one year at the Savannah, Georgia virtual duopoly of ABC affiliate WJCL and Fox affiliate WTGS. McGruder served on the National Association of the Arts & Sciences' Board of Governors as a Vice President-Trustee from 2006 to 2011. McGruder started his career on-camera with reporting and anchoring jobs at ABC affiliate WTOK-TV in Meridian, Mississippi, WAPT in Jackson, Mississippi, and WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Alabama (where he also was a producer).

I've heard rumors of this for a while now, but it's nothing compared to KSHB. KSHB has no general manager, no news director and rumors are now starting to fly that their ASSISTANT news director will soon be fired too!

What are the qualifications to get hired at KSHB. A pulse?

Who knows, but there are rumors flying now (just started today actually) that McGruder left so suddenly because he's jumping ship to KSHB...although they won't respond to that (obviously).

That still doesn't make sense to many people though as he spent over ten years loyally at WDAF. KSHB would have to be offering him a DAMN good deal for him switch like that. Guess we'll find out during sweeps now that they've started...
