New KSHB General Manager

Brian Bracco has apparently been named the new general manager of KSHB-TV, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri.

A poster in a local TV forum in the area says that this Bracco fellow rules with an iron fist and even wishes the people over there at channel 41 "good luck." Now granted, that's only one person, but still an interesting reply none the less.

From a Kansas City point of view, this seems like a terrific hire. He knows the market. He knows news. He led the top station in town for 13 years.

KSHB has been without a GM and a News Director for four or five months, and judging by the tweets from employees, they're excited about the hire.

Right. Especially that "he led the top station in town" part! KMBC has been on the decline now for years and the other three stations in the city have been DYING to finally overtake them, but it's one of those things where they're so close (literally, within two tenths of a ratings point of doing so) yet so far. Under the Vrabac-Phillip leadership, KSHB was KMBC's biggest threat, at least for the 5 and 6pm newscasts.

My prediction was also true that I made ages ago: they were going to wait until after sweeps to announce the hire probably because they wanted to see how well the station could manage without any leadership (and that wasn't very well at all) and go from there.
