He's a Zucker guy - which means it's probably a matter of time before he steps into some role at CNN. I think it was a matter of when, not if. He was reporting directly to Zucker; when Comcast took over, he was placed under an "NBC News Group" umbrella where he reports to Patricia Fili-Kushel, not Steve Burke.
