WWL-TV anchor Angela Hill retiring from anchor desk after nearly 40 years

This afternoon, 5 pm and 6 pm anchor Angela Hill announced her retirement from daily anchor duties. Her last newscast is April 4.

 

Instead, she's trading the anchor desk to work with Dominic Massa, the station's chief for special projects. She is interested in producing documentaries that highlight the best of southeast Louisiana.

 

Angela came to the station in 1975 as consumer reporter and quickly advanced to the anchor desk.

My guess is that they will just have Karen Swenson handle the 5pm news as well as the 6 and 10. Angela will be missed... do you think her retirement will have any impact on WWL's status as the number one station for news?

Hard to say. It might dip some, but I feel it's unlikely Channel 4 will lose the No. 1 spot....unless Belo makes them do something really dumb. So far, Belo's been smart to leave them alone.
