Allen retired from KTRK in January after nearly 40-years at the station. Says the release: "Allen said after being off the air a while, and looking at what promises to be another exciting year for Houston sports, he realized he’s not ready to step away from covering sports just yet." Allen begins reporting to the Allen Parkway studios on April 25th (just in time to kick off May sweeps). My takeaway: there's no way this hasn't been in the works for some time, probably since the day he announced his retirement or signed off from KTRK.
