Alain 17
This past Saturday (6/1), WSCV/Telemundo 51 produced and aired the 38th Annual League Against Cancer Telethon raising a grand total of $4,476,489, figure which kept rising on Sunday morning to $4.5mil. The MCs were, of course main T51 anchors Maria Montoya, and Ambrosio Hernandez supported by most of the talent from the station who also answered phones during the event. This was a memorable telethon as it was dedicated to Cuban singer Celia Cruz who passed away 10 years ago, she was a driving force for the League, always present on most of it's events. WSCV has been producing this telethon for 15 years, prior to that, WLTV/Univision 23 was home since it's start in 1975. The League Against Cancer/Liga Contra el Cancer is a Miami-based non-profit organization focused on providing preventive cancer screenings and treatment for the less fortunate completely free of charge. Founded in 1975 in Miami, it has Cuban roots traced back to a foundation of the same name that lasted from 1925 to 1959. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/67980/wscv-cancer-telethon-raises-over-45-million?ref=search Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12700-wscv-raises-45-million-during-league-against-cancer-telethon/ Share on other sites
