When did KFMB-TV rebranded is self as CBS 8 (the web site is now http://www.cbs8.com from prior site http://www.kfmbtv.com)? I am glad the didn't change the name of the news franchise to CBS 8 News. When the management to Local 8 News in the late 90's-very early 2000's people rebelled down there.

Any clues folks?

It is just their website, I guess they wanted to relate more to CBS. The newscasts are still branded as NEWS 8 [HD]. Maybe in a couple of years they will go to CBS 8 NEWS. When the show schedule for Entertainment Tonight for example, comes up Bill Ratner says "Tonight at 7 right here on CBS 8." I myself would rather them brand themselves as CBS 8 NEWS, I think NEWS 8 sounds too 1990's.

EDIT: They changed their website to cbs8.com back in January when they switched to HD.

"News 8" doesn't sound 90s at all, "NewsChannel" would. Names like "News _" is one of the more generic names that doesn't get old. Network/channel branding ("CBS 8") is trendy and would probably get old over the next 10+ years or so. They could always brand the station as "CBS 8" and the newscasts "News 8."

Hey, WFAA has used "News 8" for the longest and it's worked for them.
