moshewx 19 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I do not watch WABC's newscasts, but tuned in to the fire coverage. When they showed their burned set, I noticed that they still have cameras where they need cameramen to operate them. In other words, they do not look like they are electronic. I know for a fact that WCBS, WNBC and WPIX (probably the other stations in the market as well) have used electronic cameras since the early 1990s. These cameras do not require cameramen and are operated from the control room. Does WABC use cameramen on their cameras?
cbs2newshd 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 The cameras at WABC are robotic and not manned during the newscasts, but they can be operated manually if necessary.
jbjimbo 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 When I was at WABC (probaby like 5 years ago) the cams were robotic and controlled by one person at a computer in the studio.
globalbc 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Robotic they are. WABC, WNBC and WPIX all use a Vinten Autocam system. WNYW and WCBS use a different system by Radamec. Up until a few years ago, WABC and WNBC used a TSM Robotic system. So all of the stations in New York with the exception of WWOR use robotic cameras.
Weeters 1969 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 From what I've seen, WABC uses the same robotic system as WITI.
