Sounds to me like what was supposed to happen except on Friday nights originally when Nightline was moved. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/03/nightline-prime/ Something to think about, if Nightline Prime does very well, would they consider moving it to Sunday's at 7pm to try to compete with Dateline Sunday and 60 Minutes.
