n925tv 143 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Hi. Recently, KFMB in San Diego, bought a couple of Toyota Sequoia SUV's, to use for their news truck fleet. Why did they buy these cars, instead of buying some News ENG Trucks from Frontline? I don't get why they got these cars, and now they are doing most of their live shots with some "portable" Antenna. Thanks!
Weeters 1969 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Because money. An ENG truck will easily set you back a half million dollars, plus the expense of maintaing it for the next ten years or more. An SUV with a small antenna to pick up cellular signals and a LiveU will cost a fraction of that.
