It's a deal that would cost DirecTV $1.5 billion a year (over eight years) to continue offering NFL out-of-market games through its Sunday Ticket package. Also, as part of its deal, DirecTV will now stream NFL Network for its customers on smartphones, tablets, and computer (through its own live TV app, and through the NFL's new Now app). This deal was also contingent on AT&T finalizing its purchase of DirecTV.

I know digital cable, for the longest time, wanted to carry the Sunday Ticket package, and because of its exclusivity with DirecTV, it was party why the likes of Time Warner Cable/Bright House Networks and Cablevision refused to carry NFL Network until just about a couple of years ago.

Two small clarifications here. But, Watch NFL Network is the TV Everywhere app for live streaming NFLN. NFL Now is a separate "digital network." And, OTH viewing of NFL Network on smartphones is exclusive to Verizon via the NFL Mobile app.

The only two big take ways from this are:

1. DirecTV customers get TVEverywhere rights to NFLN except via smartphone.

2. And, Expect an expansion of the Sunday Ticket.TV OTT service next year.

Other than that it's pretty much status quo.
