username23 1 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Any thoughts on FOX 5 and MY 9's coverage of the Puerto Rican Day Parade? I personally thought the TD was sloppy, the live bug was put in the middle of the screen whenever it was used, and it looked bad when you could see the FOX 5/ MY9 staff member leaping on the floats to try to get an interview. And Suitsnob, this is more your alley, but I thought Mike Woods in flip-flops was just unprofessional. I mean I get the whole not wearing suit thing since it is really hot and it doesn't mesh well with the whole informal mood of a parade, but flip-flops are just plain unprofessional. Thoughts?
Guest localcelebrity2u Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Flip Flops are whats in... it was a warm day i guess... and i guess he wanted to be in the Puerto Rican vibe- with the flip flops. lol
Dave Lampstein 124 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 flip flops are not in. if a guy wants to get his feet some air, wear some normal sandals. leave the flip flops to the ladies and john kerry.
Guest localcelebrity2u Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 YEAH THEY ARE IN KINDA- SORTA... SOME ARE VERY FASHIONABLE. ACTUALLY ABERCROMBIE REQUIRES ALL THEIR WORKERS TO WHERE FLIP FLOPS... ITS REAL YOUNG. AND I GUESS HIP
username23 1 Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Yes I agree are hip and what's in, but there is a standard of professionalism that goes along with journalism that does not apply at Abercrombie.
Legal Department 0 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Flip Flops are whats in... it was a warm day i guess... and i guess he wanted to be in the Puerto Rican vibe- with the flip flops. lol I sense a racist comment that may require litigation.
Guest localcelebrity2u Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 no... its more like a stereotype... but i can say it sense im half puerto rican.
Guest GForceTV Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 no... its more like a stereotype... but i can say it sense im half puerto rican. It doesn't matter whether you're half-Puerto Rican or half-Martian, it's still a possibly upsetting comment.
Guest localcelebrity2u Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 that a lot of puerto ricans wear flip flops? wow- im going to need you to get a life...
NYnewsFan 0 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I saw a few minutes of the coverage and it was sloppy. But do you expect a tightly well produced live broadcast from Fox 5? I didn't see Mike Woods wearing flip flops but it is on the unprofessional side. As for GForceTv - nothing even remotely racist was said. No comment was anywhere near upsetting. There was nothing racial even mentioned. There is no stereotype with Puerto Ricans and flip flops. Not sure what you are talking about.
