The race has aired on tape delay in primetime on ABC affiliate WRTV.

The blackout's been lifted, now that the race is sold out. WRTV will air it live at 11am ET, but will keep the primetime replay, dumping an AFV rerun and Harry Potter 2.

It's now official. Race is sold out. WRTV 6 to air The 100th Indy 500 - LIVE. First time since 1950 (66 years) that Indianapolis TV will air it LIVE. Was never aired LIVE on WRTV for the final 5 years of its initial ABC era ('51-'56) or on WTHR during its entire ABC run ('56-'79).

Btw, WRTV's schedule for Sunday will be CRAZY! They are really pumping up this Sunday and here's that schedule (Info from TitanTV):

 

4:00-5:00 AM: Trackside 6 - The Road To 100 (Night Before The Race - Repeat: Originally aired at 7pm from the night before)

5:00-11:00 AM: Trackside 6 - Breakfast at the Brickyard

11:00 AM-3:30 PM: The 100th Indianapolis 500 Telecast Presented by Firestone

3:30-5:00 PM: RTV 6 News Special - Indianapolis 500 Post-Race

5:00-6:00 PM: Trackside 6 - The Road To 100 (Night Before The Race - Repeat)

6:00-7:00 PM: RTV 6 - The News at 6:00 Race Edition

7:00-11:30 PM: The 100th Indianapolis 500 Telecast Presented by Firestone (repeat)

11:30 PM-12:00 AM: RTV 6 - The News at 11:00

 

That's all Sunday! WRTV 6 has been like this for a few years now, but they are going extra crazy for the 100th edition.

 

I just checked and WRTV 6 will air the telecast once more on Monday from 10:00am-1:30pm.

 

On Thursday, WRTV 6 specials begin with Trackside 6 - Road to 100 at 7:30pm with repeats on Friday and Saturday on HTSN/WRTV 6.2.

 

Friday has WRTV 6 carrying Trackside 6 - Carb Day LIVE from 9am-4pm and a Special Indy 500 edition of The List at 8pm followed by another Road to 100 Special at 8:30pm.

 

And of course on Saturday, Trackside 6 - The Road to 100 (Night Before the Race) will air at 7pm.

 

Might as well do other stations in the market too:

 

WTTV 4 will only air one special: A Indy 500 special on the past, present and future on Sunday morning at 6am.

 

WISH 8 has specials on Indy 500. Wednesday at 7pm, Thursday at 8 and 9pm + 11:30pm-4am, a Special Indy Style on the event on Friday from 9-11am, special midday news at 11am and more specials on Friday from 12 Noon-5pm and 7pm. All specials are titled as '100th Year of the Indy 500'

 

WTHR 13 will carry the 500 Festival Parade on Saturday from 12 Noon-2pm. On Sunday, as they've done in previous years, Eyewitness News Race Day at 5am, 8am and 10am-12pm with Weekend Sunrise of course from 6-8 and 9-10am plus, of course special hour-long Sunday news at 6pm.

 

EDIT: WTHR 13 also has a Indy 500 Victory Banquet special, the day after the race with a pre-carpet at 7:30pm followed by the event from 8-11pm.

 

WXIN 59 doesn't do much but they will start the morning news on Sunday at a special time: 5am with 'FOX 59 at The 500' at 10am.
