tyrannical bastard 3962
This past monday, WKRG's sister station, WFNA launched a Pensacola-centric newscast. Here's a sample from WKRG itself... They have picked up the old WNCN package that's still in use (for now) at WSLS, since both WSPA and WNCN have moved on to the new scripps-esque look, and WJAR, well, was Sinclair-ized... The only carry-over from WKRG's package was the "top stories" half-screen graphic that is also used on their 9am newscast. For now, WKRG is status quo with their jcBd graphics, JDK music, and Jay Gardner VO. In a departure from WKRG, they are using Jim Cutler as VO (who does all of the CW-related stuff) AND have ditched the JDK music.....for something I'm quite positive is a Firstcom track... Could more changes be afoot at WKRG? Unlike WEAR and WPMI, they are actually producing a unique newscast for their sister station for a separate audience...the latter are just producing newscasts under their parent stations' branding rehashing the same stories...all while giving viewers a FOURTH 9pm newscast in the market, something WALA has OWNED for most of their existence as a FOX affiliate. (they expermented with 9 and 10pm before firmly committing to 9pm around 2003). Plus with Nexstar waiting in the wings, even more could change in the next year or two.... bhratbrat 437
It is a FirstCom Prod track. Good for them for actually producing a Pensacola Centric Newscast.
