Was Another XETV Reporter Attacked?

Watching Family Guy tonight, they tease a story about that investigative reporter who was attacked by a businessman and his wife LAST YEAR as if it had just happened.

All the news that's been going on this weekend, and they tease a story from San Diego that happened months ago? Something wrong here?

EDIT: I should mention I was watching WITI, the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee, WI...

They were sentenced on Friday. The man Suleiman was sentenced to 1 year behind bars and the wife was given probation. It probably was on tv because of all the national attention this story got. Just to add this couple is also accused of defrauding several other homeowners in the San Diego area. That is still pending in court.

They teased it as if it would be the top story and didn't get to it until 9:58 during their 9:00 show. The tease also made it seem as if they "just got some hot, crazy video just into the newsroom". But the story was about the sentencing. I just found it somewhat odd the way it was teased.

Finally John Mattes has some measure of justice from this. I understand that Sam Suleiman may be looking at doing some serious time (up to 10 or 20 years if I understand the law right) if convicted on those fraud charges. For John Mattes' sake, I sure hope that's going to be the case.

Yeah, it took a while for these idiots to be convicted, and I hope he and his psychotic wife do serious time. What had me laughing was that suleiman blamed John Mattes for having been sentenced to jail time. He says that Mattes provoked the whole incident, which is not true. Mattes wasn NOT on suleiman's property and he was talking to another individual who is a neighbor of suleiman, when this psychopath slugged at Mattes (clearly visible on the video). Hopefull all these people he scammed will be able to recoup their money.

He plead guilty to beating an investigative reporter and today Sam Suleiman learned he'll spend a year behind bars. Suleiman was apologetic but also accused FOX 6 reporter, John Mattes, of going after him personally.

"He was shattering my dream in front of my eyes," charged Suleiman.

Mattes was reporting on the real estate investor's deals. Deals in which people claimed they'd been swindled out of millions by Suleiman.

Mattes insists his investigation of the real estate investor is not personal, "It's over. Justice is done. He tried to silence me. He failed."

Mattes says his ribs were cracked and his eyes were gouged, and Suleiman stalked him and called him late at night.

"I don't have to look over my shoulder anymore and that's a good thing," Mattes said.

Brian Phillips kept Suleiman from harming Mattes even further.

The beating began after Suleiman and his wife arrived at Phillips' home. Mattes and Phillips were meeting to discuss the damage to Phillip's yard that Suleiman allegedly caused during construction of the building that borders Phillips' yard.

Phillips says he'll likely never get back the 20-thousand dollars in damages to his yard and legal fees, but at least for now Suleiman won't be harming anyone else.

"365 days is nothing to this man. He deserves as many years as possible behind bars with police supervision. Because he will not learn his lesson," said Phillips.
