Martha Weaver announced last week (?) that she was moving to Minneapolis to care for her ailing mother. Ray Cortopassi is busted to field reporter.

The new anchor team is Todd Wallace from KXAS, and Trisha Shepherd from WHO.

There are some bad shakeups that are still waiting to happen at WRTV. I read online that the GM at WRTV was thinking about going the vj route. They are own by McGraw Hill and so is KGTV in San Diego. KGTV is going through problems, such as hiring videojournalists, demoting their long time talent, pay cuts, staff cuts and all that bad stuff.

The WRTV news staff seems competent and earnest, but I think they have lacked for years the funding of their competitors. Several years ago, they thinned out their reporter ranks. They even cut their weekend morning newscasts. I wonder what the heck is up with McGraw-Hill. jim

Maybe they're preparing for that long-rumored sale of their stations... probably to either ABC themselves or some private equity group. I've read McGraw-Hill's annual report for the past few years, and they barely mention their four TV stations in their annual report. Could we be seeing "6ABC News" instead of "6News" in Indianapolis and the ABC O&O Circle 7 in Denver instead of KMGH's current circle 7?

One thing's for sure, though: if ABC buys out the four McGraw-Hill stations, Gari's EWN New Generation will have a 99.9% chance of staying put as the news music package used at the stations. ;D

Yeah you're right. I hope that KGTV gets different cuts of EWN. Rosie Odonnell's ass on the accordian type of music is just not cutting it. I hope they do sell to ABC. It will get some people with some sense to run these stations. The management at these stations are sucking up to the big dogs at McCrap HIll. KGTV use to have Saturday morning newscast, axed. Their weekend morning weather man was cut. Their long time anchors are forced to take pay cuts and go on vacations for up to two or three weeks at a time. Let's hope the rumors are true. So that we can see 6NEWS, 7NEWS, 10NEWS and 23abc, become abc 6, abc 7, abc 10 and abc 23.

I think here recently Channel 6 has been stepping up a bit. Regarding the weekend morning newscasts, they did a Saturday Morning Newscast with Jeff Pigeon, Ericka Flye and David James (he would work both mornings and nights) but I remember that it was cancelled due to low ratings. I can't see weekend morning newscasts on an already low rated newscast in a mid-sized market doing that well anyway.

However they are alot far off better than Fox59 for sure. That place seriously needs some money pumped into it IMHO but that's a whole other matter.

RTV has been stepping it up a lot lately. Now just if they get their weather coverage in par (breaking in on 6News 24/7 more, etc.)

Below is the General Managers Blog url, he says there are some BIG changes coming.

I'm reading the last blog comment that's on there thus far. It says that Martha suffered a miscarriage? I know she was pregnant but thought she had the baby!

sorry to bump a old topic, but WRTV will not be sending Martha Weaver out without a bang. Apparently they will be giving her a sending away party on friday on 6News @ 6. Also they have been airing promotions announcing that she's leaving.
