Station Graphic Tweaks over the years

WTKR hasn't introduced a whole new look to their newscasts since 2002. They just introduce new elements every so often... new L3 here, new open there, new OTS every year or two.

The only thing WAVY has done to their current package is make the L3 smaller a month or so after they introduced it in March of last year.

WVEC's has remained the same since its debut in 2003. They've had several new opens since then (they're on their fifth different open in four years). They also added the slogan to the L3s upon the revival of the "Spirit" image campaign.

WVBT made several minor tweaks to their graphics package since 2004, they changed the "live" bug. It's hard to notice the changes, really. Also, they were using sister station WAVY's graphics for weather since the newscast debuted in 1998, but the forecasts got their own purple and yellow look last year.

WDSU has done nothing since the overhaul after Katrina.

Sky News seems to love constantly tweaking their graphics. They've tweaked their current graphics THREE TIMES since introduction!

1. The original.

2. Added and quickly removed slogan from all titles.

3. Changed "in-ticker bug" to "Fox News-esque cube with clock bug."

4. Tweaked bug again - it does not animate anymore.

BBC News loves changing their fonts constantly. I'm not even going to touch ITV News.

KYW: None since they just got a new package 4 months ago

WPVI: Finally dumped Chyron in favor of a more modern character generator (but they are still married to Helvetica Extended Bold like it's going out of style [news flash IT IS OUT OF STYLE!])

WCAU: Nothing major to the main graphics package, but back in the Novocom days, they were changing graphics once a week.

WPHL: Aside from the logo change nothing new at all.

WTXF: Since adopting the FOX corporate look, they have been moving further and further away from it, complete with a restyled logo (same basic look but with better treatments to the logo as opposed to the rather flat logo that most stations have), new low key plasma screen graphics, and an overall bluer look to the presentation.

WPSG: nada

The BBC has been all Helvetica for like 4 years, and ITV totally rembranded all it's channels in early 06. Sky is just crap period

1. Helvetica Black and Medium

2. Helvetica Medium only

3. New graphics: Some Gill Sans, some Helvetica Medium

ITV News has crap graphics, period.

Ahh, the infamous British TV "relaunches." Since 1989, Sky has changed graphics at least 15 times. The BBC, a more sane 10 times.

KMOV has been tweaking here and there, using more of the Hothaus Creative graphics they receieved in 2001. Some of the elements toolkit are just getting use now.
