TV Active 3 0
That seems to be one of several station sales to go through lately. Aside from the Weigel purchase mentioned in another thread, four Montecito stations (KOIN, KHON, KSNW, and KSNT) are supposed to be sold to New Vision. Fisher Communications also announced the buyout of KBAK and KBFX-LP in Bakersfield, CA. However, two large groups have taken their stations off the market. Both Nexstar Broadcasting and LIN announced that potential sales were on 'hiatus'. eyewitness_news 5
I take it the Sinclair-mandated graphics will be dropped by the end of the year. nibbick40 0
Wouldn't doubt it. WTXL ditched their Sinclairified look barely 2 months after Calkins took over. kjohnson 17
A bit more on the WGGB sale: The station was sold to local interests. The new owners, Gormally Broadcasting, LLC, which is owned by John Gormally. More from MassLive.com: SPRINGFIELD - The publisher of BusinessWest plans to buy WGGB-TV abc40 for $21.2 million in cash, bringing local ownership back to local television broadcasting. John G. Gormally Jr. said he signed an agreement on Tuesday with Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. to buy the ABC affiliate. The sale to Gormally Broadcasting LLC is expected to close in the fourth quarter this year. So in an interesting turn, the station was sold back into local ownership. Is this a possibility for other stations nationwide? TrfRptr 3
Speaking of SGB, I noticed one of their stations was specifically asking/recruiting/hiring for a "female" anchor/reporter at one of their stations. Is it legal to specify gender of an applicant? I thought EOE really meant, equality for application.
