Oliverolang 41
Today, WGNO starts their newscasts from the Galleria in Metairie. And the station has a complete overhaul in set and graphics. There is a new logo, graphics, and set. The set has a skyline backdrop like their old set with a bank of monitors on the side. The desk has red stripes with a plasma monitor on it. There is one stand up area with 3 monitors, and another one with one large monitor. The set has a real weather center as well. Their new bug is animated, and they are broadcasting in HD! Thumbs way up for WGNO's new set and graphics! Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/1936-wgno-overhaul/ Share on other sites
Oliverolang 41
I believe WWL's studios were originally supposed to be an all glass design, but after the hurricane the design was scrapped and they're starting from square one. PelicanGuy 117
From reading today's Times-Picayune, GM Larry Delia says WGNO won't broadcast news in HD until next year, even though the set is HD-ready. http://www.nola.com/living/t-p/walker/index.ssf?/base/living-0/1188367593232970.xml&coll=1 But that new set rocks big time. I'm sure the weather team is on their knees thanking Jesus right now that they don't have to use the folding table with the four computers on them any more. They're even using a different cut of Elevation. Don't expect a new studio from WVUE until Emmis gets rid of the station...and there's no guarantee the new owners will build a new studio. abcfan, WDSU does not have a new building...just a new set. They've only been in their building for just over a decade. There's no activity on Loyola Avenue - where WWL's proposed new studio was supposed to go, so Oliverolang could very well be right in that they are back to square one as far as designing go.
