New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft is in the midst of a retail development known as Patriot Place (http://www.patriot-place.com/).

Later today, CBS will formally announce they will build "CBS Scene" at Patriot Place. It will be a restaurant/sports bar and will include broadcast facilities for both the network and owned station, WBZ-TV.

WBZ-TV Sports Director Bob Lobel has stated that he intends to broadcast the Sunday night sport program, "Sports Final with Bob Lobel" from CBS Scene.

Does anyone remember those Weather Channel commercials from early 1998 where there is a bar called "The Front" and plays just the Weather Channel, and also featured pictures of some of the personalities. There was one commercial with two sports fan like guys, one covered in red who wanted warm weather, and the other who was covered in blue and wanted cold weather!

Here are some of those commercials from Youtube:

One thing: the subject is a bit misleading as CBS Scene/Patriot Place are being built into and around the stadium. When done, the stadium will be part of the Patriot Place complex.

That, and Foxboro Stadium was knocked down a couple years ago. :)

If anyone is interested, the Oct. 2008 issue of CBS' "Watch!" magazine has an article on the new complex. Their website (http://www.cbswatchmagazine.com) does not seem to have updated in a while. I'll see what I can do about uploading the article if anyone is interested.

Also, the CBS Scene website (http://www.cbsscene.com) is up.

The CBS Scene opens late next week and a broadcast tour airs Saturday, Sept. 6 on WBZ.
