WIVB switches to 360 for its open and rejoins...but keeps Third Coast everywhere else

Recommended Posts

I made a thread like this before the switch, but it's gone, so here goes again...

WIVB has new music for the first time in 10 years. Out is Third Coast by Stephen Arnold; in is 360 from Your Brain on Music.

The opens are the same as the "mouse-click" graphics they debuted a few months back (http://youtube.com/watch?v=6j2woS6kMbM), as are the ugly L3s they've had for a couple of years. No clips, but the cut they're using is at the :28 mark at http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer.php?media=theme,1145.

What bugs me is that they are still using Third Coast cuts in the teaser, the bumpers, etc.--literally only the open and the talent rejoins have new music. So basically WIVB did a halfway job in that department...hopefully they will get some of the other 360 cuts worked in there.

Wow. Tonight was weird. During the open of 10pm news WIVB produces on WNLO CW 23 (their sister station), TC and 360 were being played right over the top of each other. This new theme situation is a disaster so far...

I'll say it again, 360 is the ONLY YBOM package that isn't uninspired and cookie cutter. THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME!

Arnold needs to go back to his roots and create unique sounding packages and not these packages that sound like bad rock music.

I think that's because Arnold's not doing as much of the composing anymore. (Hi, Chad Cook!)

That's because they have to if they don't want to pay lots and lots of money....SESAC is the culprit.

Just market the former SESAC packages under the YBOM name, they did that to 360 and Premier/Connection, why not do it to the rest?
