Weather names

We're looking for a new name for our weather when we go back up with news:

Storm Team, First Alert and WeatherLab are taken in our market.

Suggestions? Or should we just keep "Storm Predator Weather"? :)

You should not keep the name "Strom Predator Weather." Fox 59 just changed themselves to "FOX 59 Weather Authority."

So maybe Weather Authority. How about SkyTrack?

Keep in mind, we can't afford real meteorologists...in fact, one of our weather people is better known here as a comedian who dresses in drag (check You Tube for "Brownback Girl" and "Coal Lovin' Governor").

I can't speak for everyone, but I hate all these names for weather departments. One of the most reknowned weather departments where I live (Chicago) at WGN gets along just fine without a name for its weather department, through they did recently acquire a partnership with WeatherBug.

I think you just gave me an idea... how does "Plain Talk Weather" sound?

I personally don't like that idea. If you don't want to hype up your weather, just call it the weather center or nothing at all. It might be just me, but Plain Talk Weather sounds odd.

That gave me an idea...

John McCain's Straight Talk Weather.

"It's Going to be partly cloudy today, and that's the straight talk."

How about Clear Weather?

The promo could be someone taking a picture of a bull, and then cutting said bull out of the picture with scissors. The slogan could be "Clear Weather - cutting out the bull."

Well, I thought a little bit, and I think that a little Photoshop magic could explain my idea better. Here's my idea in picture form:

Storm Predator sounds a little pretentious for an oganization with such limited resources.

I like the "clear weather" idea. Keep it simple.

I like "SkyTrack Weather" or "Skytracker Weather". Not having a name for weather also works, or using your station name (e.g. FOX12 Weather) could work.

I wouldn't recommend keeping "Storm Predator Weather", but that's just me. Good luck!

Blargh,

In the immortal words of Tony Kornheiser, "you're a stinking genius!"

WITI,

Don't EVEN get me started on that two-faced four-flusher McCain!!!

How about "Early Warning Weather", a take on KXAN's "First Warning Weather"

"Early Warning Weather". Simple, honest, and effective, I think.

Why thank you! icon14.gif

What station are we doing this for, anyway?

Maybe the "ION Wichita" branding could be slowly phased in.

Perhaps, for the first month or so, this could be used:

I like that take on the station brand.

As for branding the station's weather unit...that may also work there., i.e., "ION Wichita Weather."

It's a tad too "avant garde" for a station like KCTU-LP, which is not really modern looking at all.

Blargh,

Your RCF logo is awesome (it is, however, the only one I can see on the mobile browser we use on computers at my night job) :p
