Should KTLA's "Prime News" be renamed "News at Ten" again?

Last week saw the highly anticipated return of British network ITV's longtime flagship newscast "News at Ten" after a four-year absence, pitting head-to-head against the BBC's already established "Ten O'Clock News."

"News at Ten" was also the name of KTLA's flagship newscast until a few years ago when it was "Prime News." Things there have never been the same since Hal Fishman's death last summer, but in his honor...do you think "Prime News" should become "News at Ten" once again, complete with a new version of the classic '80s/'90s theme music? I say yes.

Finally, someone mentions ITN and Sir Trevor McDonald. I only began to discover british television news through the BBC News Programmes on PBS, one trip to London, and all those internet clips from ITN. ITN was and is again a wonderful newscast thanks to Sir Trev.

KTLA should, but considering (again) what is going on with Tribune Co. and the managment issues at Channel 5. It will never happen. KTLA is struggling as is Tribune. The company recently went private and was sold to Sam Zell for 8.2 billion.

KTLA would look nice with the old "news at ten" branding, but considering the managment problems, it's never going to happen. the LA dma just can't do it anymore.

By the way...sister station WPIX's newscast is called "News at Ten" and has been that way since the late '80s.

And WGN's evening newscast may now be "WGN News at Nine", but from 1980 until the late '90s, guess what it was called? "The Nine O'Clock News" (which was also the name of the BBC's flagship newscast until the move to 10:00 in 2000)!!!

At least nobody will ever stoop to calling their newscast "The Local" (based on CBC's "The National").

Well it's close enough in Spokane. The NBC affiliates newscast is KHQ Local News, and when I was living in Washington State two years ago, it was a poor newscast compared to KREM2 and KXLY.
