KKyuubi 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 As you know, KSTU is a Fox O&O, and of course, even has a MyFox site, and will be getting the O&O look very soon. But I'm a bit concerned about the O&O look and KSTU. The font used on the 13 in their current logo is a Times New Roman like typeface. It looks good on their current Giant Octopus graphics/logo, but if you look at the logo on their site (http://www.myfoxutah.com), something just doesn't seem right about it. Looks...well...weird. This is where my concerns come in, should KSTU keep their current 13 logo when they switch over to the Fox O&O look, or should they pull a WHBQ and switch to WTVT's 13? (whoops! stylized 113?!)

The 3's have the same lower part, but the upper left of Tampa's 3 is slanted / while Memphis's 3 is straight |. The 1's are different too: Tampa's is slanted / while Memphis's has a curve. I'm not sure if it's still going on, but when their myfox*.com websites debuted, many Tampa-bugged primetime show promotion ads were appearing on Memphis's site. Guess the MyFOX webmaster didn't notice the difference either.

Guess the MyFOX webmaster didn't notice the difference either. WHBQ did end up fixing all the website mistakes. IIRC, it did all occur within the beta period. But yeah, regularly WTVT stuff was up on their website, and for a while the TV listings redirected to WTVT's, not WHBQ's as well. And yes, the 13's are indeed slightly different though most references indicate WHBQ's is a replica of it. And as far as KSTU, yes, I very much agree that their 13 looks strange with the O&O look. Perhaps they can modify it to fit better with the O&O look, but I imagine for it to work that they will have to switch over to a WTVT/WHBQ style.

However KTVI's 2 went back to the 2 that they originally had, and WJBK's 2 stayed the same. Personally I like WJBK's 2 better, KTVI's is too skinny to me, but I know that was their original 2. The KTVI 2 isn't all that bad either, though I do think I prefer the WJBK version.

It's a bit sloppy, but the part in the middle will get covered up by a number (13) anyway. So, think YOU can design a better logo?
