jdcnow 14
http://www.tampabays10.com/news/specials/popular/article.aspx?s=popular&storyid=74821 We will air a tribute special to Dick Fletcher tonight, from 8 to 9 p.m. EST. You can watch it live on Tampa Bay's 10 or right here on tampabays10.com. It’s hard to believe, but the dean of Tampa Bay meteorologists has given his last broadcast. Dick Fletcher died February 26 after suffering a massive stroke on Monday, February 18. Dick had been hospitalized shortly after the stroke, but he did not respond to treatment, passing away in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Dick’s wife, Cindy, and his family were at his side during the final moments. It’s been a difficult time for the Fletcher family, but they have been comforted by the outpouring of support they’ve received from you through comments online, e-mail, phone calls and cards. “We’ve lost a legend” says Tampa Bay’s 10 President and General Manager Sam Rosenwasser. “People counted on Dick Fletcher for their weather. He really did touch a lot of lives and he will be missed tremendously.” Condolences and well-wishes go out to his family, and the people of WTSP. sctvhound 27
This is such a sad day for Tampa Bay television, and meteorology in general. He was a pioneer in his field, with one of the first computerized weather systems, great long-form hurricane coverage, and his grace was unparalled. God bless him and his family. JimmySand9 0
Very sad, and just a year after losing John Winter just as suddenly. As a Tampa native, it's hard to see.
