DMA 135
Wow. I knew they had HD field cameras, but I'm surprised that a local cable news channel will be in HD. I'm lucky I live in SI. DMA 135
It's not HD at all. It's NY1 with blue sidebars. No graphics, studio shots, field reports, or anything for that matter, is HD, or 16:9. Ridiculous. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3184-ny1-hd/#findComment-29263 Share on other sites
DMA 135
I emailed NY1 about it, and got this back: Hello, You are absolutely correct, although we launched on Channel 701, you are seeing an upconverted signal from SD to HD. We are working to begin televising in true HD and a 16x9 format. We launched early on Channel 701 because if we had waited, it could have been a few months before we would have the opportunity again. As you can imagine, it is an enormous undertaking to upgrade out entire facility to true HD so we are taking the upconverting steps first. We have been careful to not over-promote NY1HD since it would be misleading to our viewers. Thanks for the feedback. At least they're not trying to mislead.
