cityprod 9
Here in the UK, journalists and news junkies alike are mourning the untimely death of former ITN Newscaster/Anchor Carol Barnes, who died today after suffering a stroke last weekend. She was 63. Carol joined ITN in 1976 and made her mark with ITN. She famously got an interview with a young 19 year old Diana Spencer, who later married Prince Charles. From 1983 onwards, she was a newscaster/anchor on all of ITN's main news programmes, inlcuding News At Ten, working alongside some of the greats in the UK news business, like Alistair Burnett and Sandy Gall. She helped launch the Channel 4 Daily, Channel 4's first breakfast programme in 1989, highlights from which can be found here at More video of her anchoring the ITN News at 5.40 is also here at She also was part of the team that launched Simply Money onto digital satellite after she left ITN in 1999, but the channel closed in 2001. She made occasional returns to ITN to anchor on the ill-fated ITV News Channel during Gulf War mark 2 in 2003, and to cover for Angela Rippon on the channel's weekend morning programme. BBC News has the story at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7279128.stm Rest In Peace, Carol. You will be much missed.
