The Observer 0 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 WNBC made a joke of the swearing in of David Paterson feeling that the St. Patrick's Day Parade was more important than this historic event for the state just cutting in when Paterson took the stage and leaving when he left. Shame on you WNBC!
NYNW 0 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Drops the ball? A little dramatic, maybe? WNBC's been covering the parade for years, and the swearing-in just happened to land on the same day. You gotta please both sides.
Sam Horn 78 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 How would covering the inauguration have served the public interest? As it is the events surrounding Gov. Paterson's installation have been covered ad nauseam both locally and nationally. Plus coverage was readily available on WNBC's corporate sister MSNBC.
mediadorkx07 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 "Drops the ball?" When it was on their website and on MSNBC? Give me a break.
NYNews 54 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Plus WNBC has to pay/get the rights to air these special events, ie: Marathon, Thanksgiving Day Parade, etc. As many have mentioned there were plenty of other option to choose from: WNBC.com, other channels. It's not like no other channel was airing the event. Same situation when WPIX didn't air the Giants ticker-tape parade, Huff of the NY Daily News made a big deal about it, which i think wasn't called for.
