Tyler 151 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 This is kind of a stupid question... but where do stations get the maps they use on-air to show where a story is happening (besides Google maps)? Thanks.
Dave Lampstein 124 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Here's a system I've worked with.. Chyron recently bought them. http://www.axisgraphics.tv/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 NBC News and the NBC O&Os use a very good app called Curious World Maps. That has easy integration with NLEs and most Adobe products.
PTVNews 196 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I went to a local station and visited the graphics department. I watched them make a map from scratch. They use a template with their standard background and stuff. (They use Photoshop.) Then they paste in screenshot from something like google maps of the area to make a map of that the producer sent to them. Then they draw in the needed roads using the screenshot. The particular guy I watched uses some sort of pen to draw on a board as his mouse. Then he saves it and it is sent to the control room through a program that is offered free by Google.
jdcnow 14 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I've seen KTVT on all it's maps plug a website, AirPhotoUSA.com (http://airphotousa.com/)
